Since I’m single, you might find it odd that I love Valentine’s Day. However, I think it’s a great opportunity to tell others you care about them, and more importantly, that God loves them more than anyone else ever could.
I know for many of my single friends, Valentine’s Day is a time of mopiness and loneliness. While ultimately the desires of our hearts will only be filling Christ regardless of our relationship status, there are things we can do to help out those who feel blue while seeing everyone else pair up while they are the cheese left all alone. (A former roommate of mine would say this everytime a good friend of hers got married, referring to “The Farmer and the Dell”…and now she is married too!)
One way you can brighten up Valentine’s Day for a single friend of yours is by showing special kindness to them: a card, lunch, flowers, candy, phone call, etc. By especially thinking of them at this holiday, you allow Christ to show His love for them through you. Like I said before, you cannot replace the love that they crave, however you can be an instrument to the true source of love and belonging.
Considering others on Valentine’s Day works for me!
Oh, and that offer is still on the table. Feel free to make me write on something weird or something you don’t think I have the guts to talk about.
Such a sweet idea! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Great idea. I actually was thinking of sending flowers to a single gal I know who’s been sick. It can be for Valentine too :)

Agreed! Actually, I am married with a child and still managed to prepare and send Valentine gifts to two very nice people who were having struggles in life with health issues, etc. One is a single college student, and the other I barely even know…met her at a forum online. There are plenty of neat Valentine things that are appropriate for anyone. They are both crafty, so I just walked through a craft store and picked out red and pink stuff that would fit in a small envelope — heart stickers, a flower pen, heart decoration, tiny notebook/pen set for a purse, etc. It was fun!
This is a great idea! I am sad I have not thought of this wonderful gesture in the past years. Thank you for sharing! And have a Happy Valentines Day!

That’s a fantastic idea and I love your attitude! I have a single friend I need to check on that day. I know it would make her so happy.
Ronnica – this is an amazing idea! Thank you so much for encouraging us to look beyond the usual expressions of Valentine’s Day love and extending it to others.
My middle two children will be serving a Valentine’s Day dinner at church for the seniors (including widows and widowers). Another group of people who appreciate a little bit of extra love and affection during this busy time of year.

I always did appreciate this about you!!! Love you!
Wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing!
I think I’ll have to give this a try once I get my husband’s gift figured out :) I do know some singles that would love this though.
Good for you. It’s good to be thinking outside of ourselves, especially on a day when the tendency is to do that when there’s not necessarily a specific someone to think of. Anyways, I don’t think you have the guts to speak about…guts.
I’ll never forget the year some friends of mine who were newlyweds sent me a nice little Valentine day care package. I was an unhappy single. I sent a card to my only single friend today.
Thanks for the suggestion…we will be sure to do something special for the singles in our life tomorrow! Blessings.
