Honestly, I have never had a bad travel experience. I was fortunate on all my flights to meet interesting people. I met Danish politician (he was a member of the Danish Parliament), I met a famous Volcanologist (he writes articles and produces documentaries for National Geographic), and I have met lots of other nice people.

Of COURSE I didn't say anything to the crack lady. I just couldn't do it. She was with a man, so I wasn't about to bring it up.

Apparently what we can say about these two things is I avoid confrontation with a stranger. For good or for bad, I don't know.

You sure meet a lot of odd people. I hope you told that lady that she was showing crack. I'd want someone to tell me if I was.

I can't say that I've ever gone to the wrong ticket counter before, but I have gone to the wrong gate many times - my strategy is to always act like I'm going to continue walking forward while inconspicuously looking ahead just to make sure that the gate says the right destination. Then I can casually stroll down and find the nearest empty chair as though I were doing it on purpose.

Meanwhile, I suggest that you take her iPod and Blackberry and throw it out the window. See if she likes that. I did it once, and the guy who was sitting next to me didn't speak to me ever again. I don't think my dad's ever forgiven me...I'm still not allowed to fly with him. (Just kidding!)
