Spring Reading Thing 2008

I love to read, so why not participate in the Spring Reading Thing 2008? I love the fact that I don’t have to read these by the end of May, but by June 19th. School will be out by then, so I’ll be able to pick up the pace!

These are the books that I would like to read (or finish reading):

1. Sense and Sensibility – Jane Austen
I just started this, but I look forward to continuing reading it.

2. Respectable Sins – Jerry Bridges
This book is great! I’ve already read several chapters and have really been using it to consider what sin remains in my life (not the happiest picture!).

3. To the Golden Shore, a Biography of Adonirim Judson – Courtney Anderson
I started this last summer, but keep forgetting to pick it back up. This will be a book I’m challenging myself to read, not that it’s unpleasant, but that it gets put on the back burner!

4. Tramp for the Lord – Corrie Ten Boom
I can’t wait to read this, but I’m going to make myself finish To the Golden Shore first!

5. Calm My Anxious Heart – Linda Dillow
I think that this will be a good read for me.

6. Prince Caspian – C. S. Lewis
I’ve already read this a couple of times, but I want to read it again before the movie comes out! That’s no big deal since it’s a fast read.

7. Thousand Splendid Sons – Khaled Hosseini
The Kite Runner was a good (but sad) book, so I’ll be interested in what he does in this one.

Seven books…on top of what I have to read for school (a lot) seems like a challenging but not overwhelming goal. I’ll be posting reviews over on the Book Nook Club whenever I get them done. What will you be reading this spring?

I just rec’d A Thousand Splendid Suns for my b’day. Duh, I should’ve put that on my list, too. :) I really liked Kite Runner. Also, I’ve never read Corrie Ten Boom; but she’s a fave of a friend of mine. I’ll have to try her some day, too.

    Happy Easter.

I may have to join in or maybe not. I’ve been putting off other things to read lately so maybe not. But these all sound like great options. Definitely review them and let me know if any are worth reading.

I was so glad to read your thoughts on Respectable Sins. I’ve had that book on my Amazon wish list for quite a while but was hoping to hear more about it from someone who’s read it. It looks like one of those books that might not be “pleasant” to read, but will still be good to read, you know? Thanks for being part of SRT ’08!

Right now I’m reading mysteries and romances that don’t require a lot of concentration. I’m still trying to get over the ‘flu. I think I may have it until June! To see a list of what I’ve been reading since the first of the year go here.

I started reading the Kite Runner but had to put it down at the part after the Amir’s birthday and he hides his birthday gifts to make it look like Hassan stole them. It was a wonderfully written book, but way too depressing.
