Dear Jane Austen
Posted in Academic Pursuits and tagged with Jane Austen, Letters, Reading on April 14, 2008Dear Jane Austen,
I don’t really want to make it a habit of writing to those who are dead or are otherwise unable to respond, but here I do it again. There is just a few things I have to say.
I’ve just finished reading your 6 major works (and plan on reading anything else of yours I can get my hands on) and I think I enjoyed it as much as the first of yours I read, Pride and Prejudice. I can’t believe that I had waited so long to read Sense and Sensibility. It was definitely an oversight!
I love your style of writing. It makes it so easy to relate to the characters and laugh at the circumstances they find themselves in, even though there world is two centuries away. Your writing is truly timeless. The way you can turn a phrase is just delightful and definitely speaks to this young woman’s heart.
Thank you for the books that you have written and sharing your talent for writing with me. I look forward to revisiting your novels once again!
Dreamily,
Ronnica

I can’t remember if I’ve left a comment before, but I want to let you know I recently found your blog and am enjoying your letter format with the April NaBloPoMo challenge.
You make me want to read Jane Austen. I can’t recall if I’ve ever read any of her books. Such a shame, since I was studying English in college.

I love Jane Austen too! I even just watched Becoming Jane last night…made me admire her even more. I hope they were true to her real biography in that movie. I should do some reading about her life to see if they were. I should reread or read something of her’s soon. She really was amazing as an author!

you should read ‘The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen’ it is a fictional novel about her life, but written in a style similar to hers and still very enjoyable! =o)
