Hug a Lurker Day
Posted in Once I Was a Kansas Girl on May 15, 2008I’m declaring today to be Hug a Lurker Day here at Tale of a Kansas Girl. Some might think that “lurker” is a poor term for the person who reads a blog regularly but doesn’t comment, but I’m not getting into that. Instead, I want let all you lurkers out there know that you are appreciated and encouraged to make yourself known, if you choose.
You know how sometimes there’s a person sitting in a corner at a party? I’m often one of those people. We’re there in the corner for one of two reasons:
we want to be alone, watching the people and catching snippets of conversation (which is often the case for me)
or
we don’t feel included. (which happens sometimes)
If you’re a lurker here on this blog, I hope that it is because of the first reason, not the second. I don’t want anyone not to feel included here. I might express my point-of-view strongly at times, but others are welcome to be expressed. I post these things in a public forum because I want them to be read and responded to.
Today and everyday, Lurker, I hope you feel welcome to join in the discussions we have. You are by no means required to comment and are more than welcome to simply read, but I would love to hear what you have to say, too. So here’s a hug for you, Lurker.

Even though I am not a lurker on your blog, can I still have a hug?

I like this day… although I don’t really stay a lurker. I like comments so I always comment on blogs I like.

I’m a half n half! I don’t want to comment on all the posts, but I do read most of them. So does that mean I get a half hug?
