Ignorant Historian

Hey y’all. This is me, live from my hotel room (more accurately my parents’ hotel room) in San Francisco. We’ve spent the weekend in Yosemite (which is beautiful) and now we’re in San Francisco for the rest of our trip.

So far my favorite part has probably just been seeing San Francisco with all the old houses and multi-cultural feel. It is beautiful, fresh, foreign, and historic. Everything I love.

Yosemite was beautiful of course. I really liked seeing the redwood trees as I’ve wanted to do that my whole life. The trip through the park (we were there for 2 days) was often interrupted with my dad taking pictures. The rest of us got into the habit of staying in the car for his little escapades. Dad just reminded me that if he hadn’t stopped to take pictures, he would be doing it while he was driving, so really he had our safety in mind.

This morning I stuck my feet in the river that is supplied by the waterfalls (which is merely melted snow). It was COLD. It was bone-chilling cold, but a neat experience. From that point by a bridge, we walked to see one of the waterfalls. Dad had looked it up on Google Earth, and said that it was a 1/2 mile walk, flat. As we clearly passed 1/2 mile and were no closer to actually seeing the waterfall, I called it the pot at the end of the rainbow. After a little while longer, we did eventually find the waterfall (which was worth the walk, even if it was more than 1/2 a mile). It was a 3-mile trip in total. Needless to say, we’ve been teasing Dad the rest of the time.

Everyone else is in the room with me, and they apparently want a shout out since I’ve only mentioned Dad. Mom, Riley, and Amanda, watch your teasing or I might post something you don’t want me too! To be fair, Amanda doesn’t have much fodder to tease me yet…

I got to go, since I’m sure someone else wants the computer. Tomorrow we’re going to Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown (I can’t wait to try the food!) so I’ll update again soon!
