A Lot about Nothing You Wanted to Know

One of my bloggy Jen/Jenn/Jennie/Jenny/Jennifer friends (I think half of my online friends have a variation of the same name…I have to click on their profile everytime they leave a comment to figure out which one it is!) posted a meme for her 206th post. It was a fun meme that I enjoyed reading, so I thought you might enjoy reading my answers as well.

Have you ever in your life….

Gone on a blind date? No, but a friend has tried to set me up on one. We forcibly met at a get-together at her house. He was given my number, which he never used. Thank goodness. Nothing against the dude, but it wasn’t comfortable for either of us. And I was probably too liberal for him: wearing pants, going to a movie, not keeping Sunday as a Sabbath…
Skipped school? College, sure. Seminary, very rarely. The only times I skipped this year was because of the fire (which really wasn’t skipping) and because I accidently slept in. That felt good.

Watched someone die? No. Fortunately, no.

Been to Canada? Nopers. I’ve never been north of Spokane.
Been to Mexico? Yes. It was the first out-of-country trip I’ve been on, when I was 16.
Been to Florida? Yes, twice. Once in high school for a band trip to Orlando, and once this last summer for a family trip to Orlando. We did get to see the shuttle on the launch pad while in FL which was pretty cool. And snorkel. That was pretty cool too.
Have you ever been on a plane? I just flew here a few days ago. I travel a decent amount, but my first plane trip wasn’t until I was 15.

Been lost? Two times stand out in my head. Once when I was 4 or 5 in a K-Mart and I turned around and my mom wasn’t there. I found her maybe 15 seconds later, but it scared me. The other was when trying to drive out a neighborhood late at night where I had a babysitting job. It took me 5 minutes, but I finally figured it out.
Been on the opposite side of the country? I live on the opposite of the country of where I am right now. So if I take this literally, I spend most of my time on the opposite side of the country.
Gone to Washington, DC? When I was in high school, over July 4th, 2000. We got to see the fireworks, but it wasn’t windy enough to blow the smoke away so after the first couple of minutes it only looked like glowing clouds.
Swam in the ocean? In both the Atlantic (many times) and the Pacific (only once…though I threatened to go swimming right here in San Fran).
Had your booze taken away by the cops? No, I don’t live in a frat movie. Really the only encounter I’ve had with the cops is sitting in their squad car (in the back behind the fence stuff) waiting for my parents to pick me and my friend up…after my car broke down.
Lettered in a high school sport? Is band a sport?
Cried yourself to sleep? A few times a year, yes. Though I’m not a fan of the feeling of tears in my ears.
Played cops and robbers? Probably. It’s been too long.
Played dolls? Yes, I believe I did. When I was really little, I named my dolls after food items (after all, Dad always called me “Pumpkin.”).
Recently colored with crayons? Yes. I love coloring. When I was a fundraiser for the school (a telemarketer), it was the only thing we were allowed to do between/during calls (since it requires no mental activity). That’s the only reason why I stayed sane.
Sang Karaoke? This may surprise many of my real life friends, but yes. I sang karaoke at a Thanksgiving party with the singles at church a few years ago. And I enjoyed it. I sang Toby Keith’s “How Do You Like Me Now” with two of my friends, though I dragged them into it.
Paid for a meal with coins only? Not in the States. It’s easy overseas, since their coins are worth more.
Done something you told yourself you wouldn’t? Yes. Sin falls into this category.
Cheated on an exam? No, definitely not. The only cheating I ever did was on homework, but that got nipped in the bud when I was caught by my best friend’s dad in 7th grade (who was also my algebra teacher…).
Made prank phone calls? Never done the actually pranking myself, but I have been the instigator, suppler, dialer, and laugher many times. I actually just gaveaway the phone that we would use for these (it had a speakerphone). We used to call up some guys who we were friends with in the dorms and pretend to be an angry wife looking for her husband. And we got in a prank war of sorts with some guys at our spring break retreat.
Laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose? Up my nose, yes; out my nose, no. Dr. Pepper doesn’t belong in my nose.
Caught a snowflake on your tongue? Yes. This Kansas girl has seen a lot of snow, though it only snowed about 2x a year when I grew up (it has a lot more lately…global cooling?). It snowed 9 or 10 inches when I was in West Virginia a few years ago, and 30 inches when I was in New Mexico the year before that (their largest recorded snowfall).
Danced in the rain? Yes.
Written a letter to Santa Claus? I think so.
Been kissed under the mistletoe? Not by a non-family member. That’s not supposed to sound gross.
Watched the sunrise with someone you care about? No. Sunsets are more beautiful, anyway.
Been arrested? Well, I already told you that I haven’t really had any trouble with the cops, so you can figure that the answer to this one is no.
Gone ice-skating? Yes, but only as an adult.
Been skinny dipping outdoors? No way. Nor indoors.
Had a nickname? Ronn, Ronners, Ronni, and recently, Swirly (from one of my favorite little girls; I call her Ladybug).
Been to Africa? No, but I want to go.
Eaten cookies for dinner? Doesn’t everybody? Ice cream is more substantive.
Been on TV? Not that I can recall.
Stolen any traffic signs? Definitely not. I’m not really that kind of adventurous.
Been in a car accident? Yes. I was 17, it wasn’t my fault, and it was my mom’s car.
What is your mother’s name? (It’s like they knew what I just said) Yvonne.
Favorite drink? Any reader of this blog could answer this one. I’ve talked about it all too often recently.
Favorite alcohol? I don’t drink.
Birthplace? Wichita, Kansas.
Favorite vacation spot? Any good beach. The best one I’ve been too was in West Palm Beach.
Favorite salad dressing? Ranch.
Favorite pie? Apple.
Favorite number? Whatever now, but as a kid I liked 17.
Favorite Movie? Mansfield Park, the Ocean’s movies (especially 12), and the Pirates movies (especially the 1st).
Favorite holiday? Christmas, but Valentine’s Day is a very close second.
Favorite food? See favorite drink above. As far as food goes, I love ice cream, chocolate, and mashed potatoes.
Favorite day of the week? Sundays are great. I also happen to like Mondays. I know, weird.
Favorite body wash? Whatever gets me clean and makes me smell feminine.
Favorite toothpaste? Colgate total plus whitening paste, not gel. I’ve been buying it for years.
Favorite smell? Apple pie.
Do you have any tattoos? Yeah right.
Body piercings? Just my ears.
Do you drive a 2-door or 4-door vehicle? I play mommy 2 times a week, so 4-doors helps out a lot.
What do you do to relax? Read or watch movies.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Married with 5 kids. I can dream, can’t I?
