I Love My Family

I love my family. I know that most people do, and there was never a time in my life when I didn’t love my family, but something has changed in the way I think out my family. Maybe it’s the “absence makes the heart grow fonder” kinda thing, but ever since moving to North Carolina I can’t wait to go back home and see ‘em.

I was never the type to get homesick at camp. I would brag about how the only thing I missed was my bed. I could have gone (and did go) months without going home in college, even though home was only 3 hours away. It’s not that I didn’t want to see my family, but I didn’t miss them in the I-must-see-them-now sort of way.

Now that I’m half the country away and an adult, I miss my family. I want to see them. I can’t wait to see them again. Now, it’s not just my mom who cries at good-byes, it’s me too (though I try to wait until I’m around the corner at the airport). Those precious few days that I get to lounge about in my parents house is such a wonderful time, and it’s not even the house I grew up in.

All this means that I’m super excited that I get to spend this Father’s Day with my dad here in California. The whole family is together, and we can enjoy the sights, but we can also enjoy each other.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
