I’m So Excited I Can’t Write a Coherent Post
Posted in Once I Was a Kansas Girl on June 13, 2008Today is one of those days that I’m excited all day long and can’t really focus on anything. These days are rare for me, but usually come before trips and the first day of school (yes, they are on par with one another). In celebration of leaving for California in 20 1/2 hours (if you do the math you’ll realize that my flight is leaving at 6 AM tomorrow!), I’m not even going to try to turn this into one coherent post. Instead, I’ll just write a few varying paragraphs about various things (that’s why they are varying) I want to share with you. If you ask me how that differs from a normal post, I just might stick my tongue out at you, which would be awful scary coming through your computer screen. Moving on.
Happy Friday the 13th to you. This day/date combo always brings back happy memories. I graduated from college on Friday the 13th. If it wasn’t for 2008 being a leap year, I’d again be graduating on Friday the 13th this year. Instead I have to settle for Friday the 12th. Doesn’t have as great a ring to it.
This morning I actually had a semi-conversation with the man in the elevator. Not that it was the same man (to my knowledge, I don’t stare them down in the mirror door of the elevator), but still. Actually, now that I think about it, I am pretty sure it was the same man as the first time. Random. Anyway, he said something to the affect of “Friday” with a big, happy sigh, and I quipped in return, “And I am on vacation next week.” I’m making progress people. Next thing you know, I’ll be initiating awkward conversations with elevator strangers.
Yesterday when I went to speak for the first time, I about scared myself as I was actually able to speak in my normal voice. You see, I’ve actually been dealing with allergies/phlegm junk for about a month now, and it has made my voice rather froggy. When I first go to speak after letting it rest for a while, I rarely have a voice at all and have to warm it up, like a copier or something. But when the appropriate noise came out of my mouth yesterday, I was thrilled. Perfect timing, seeing I’ll be on vacation very soon (just over 20 hours now).
Finally, yesterday was a more than exhausting day. Not that I overexercised my voice, though I might have. No, I helped Joe fill up 110 water balloons (minus the 5 or so we popped) for school tomorrow. It was hot, wet and rather exhausting, as I was the one having to tie all the balloons. I’ve never been good at tying balloons, but I believe I now have enough practice to move into the intermediate level of balloon-tying. I’m sure that’ll look good on my resume. Really though, it was a sweet time with he and his brother, especially since my days with their family are numbered. At 2. I’m really going to miss them!
So do YOU have anything exciting going on? We could jump up and down together!

I don’t think I have any exciting thing to share. Sure wish I did. That vacation thing sounds nice. I almost forget what they’re like, I haven’t done one in so long.
Have a relaxing time.

Love the joy that came through in this post! I’m happy for you! Enjoy your vacation and initiate many conversations.
It is not stealing if the person says “Take the Yearbook Idea. It is YOURS to post!” OK?
Be blessed Ronnica.
