It Takes All Kinds
Posted in Once I Was a Kansas Girl and tagged with Football, Oklahoma, Sports on September 26, 2008It takes all kinds…of college football fans, that is. If no one was rooting for the other side, it wouldn’t be so fun to beat them. But who knew that we could all get along in the bloggy world?
As you know, I’m a Oklahoma Sooner fan. That doesn’t keep me from being friends with:
A Nebraska Cornhusker, by far the most dispicable on this list. Sorry, Aubrey, but I’m more of a crimson girl than red!
A Texas A&M Aggie. I’ll never forget watching OU smash them 77-0 (and yes, we were trying to be merciful, but they were letting us score) and the whole time the group of Aggie fans one section over were cheering until the final whistle. I can respect that.
An LSU Tiger. I like Dawn, but don’t like her team. Hush about the fact that they beat us a few years back for a national title.
A Notre Dame Fighting Irish (is that how you would say it? I’ve never really had a Notre Dame supporter as a friend). I’d like to think that I had something to do with Liz admiting her football loyalties.
An Alabama Crimson Tide-r (again, I have no idea how to put that). Jen’s great. Her team’s not that bad either. Something about their colors or something.
A Boise State Bronco. Okay, I don’t know if Jennifer is a football fan or not, but she’s taking classes there. And I’ve heard firsthand reports that everyone in Boise is a fan. And no, I don’t seem to remember that embarrassing Fiesta Bowl. Statue of Liberty? What? Moving on…
A Georgia Bulldog. Leigh Anne is a new friend, but an encouraging one. Oh, and I love her blog! She’s a
Anyone I’m missing?

Yep, Notre Dame. We are 2-1 and still kickin’ this season. But I would pronounce that as “Fightin’ Irish” – not so much the “ing” sound. It’s more slang-y and tough sounding. =)

How about your USC friends? Do you know anyone from UT? Or OSU?
And for some reason, everyone in Boise seems to be hung up on that one game a few years back…our good friend Tom started being a Sooner fan simply to be contrary. :)

K-Lai: Well, you know I have USC friends, but I don’t think I have any USC bloggy buddies. They probably wouldn’t appreciate the timing of this post anyway. Hehe. I don’t know anybody from UT or OSU though.
And of course Tom should root for his alma mater!

I am not a football fan at all. What would you call me?

what about those Baylor Bears?! They always give those Sooners a run for their money… okay, they don’t really do that but we are in the big 12 – does that count?

Yes, we can still be friends, can’t we?? I sure love my LSU Tigers, but we can all still get along! I’ll even still root for your team unless they’re playing mine! That’s pretty nice of me, huh?? :-)

Oh you just HAVE to know that this is my kind of post. And the very best, I mean THE VERY BEST PART of this post is that there are no Auburn bloggers or Tennessee bloggers listed.
*sniff* That just beautiful!
And a description of how to put it? BAMA OBSESSED FAN would be appropriate too!

How about a Red Raider? It’s great to meet a fellow college football lover!

I’m an Ohio State Buckeye Fan…Haven’t you seen my sidebar? Humph. I love football, but I am more of an NFL fan. Yes, I love my Buckeyes, but my Browns have my love way deeper. :)

Girl, you are brutal! :)
Since my team stinks this year and is so close in proximity to yours, I don’t think I’ll tell you where it is, and since it is not close to where I now reside, you might have to do some searching on my blog to figure it out.
But at least it seems like there is another “sports girl” out there in the bloggy world.

Oooo! That stings! Ouch! LOL
I still love my Blackshirts. Yes. I. Do.
And I understand the hostility. It goes way back to the Tom Osborne years. I know. And it’s ok.
Just give it time. We’ll be back, Sooner, I mean, Soon enough.

You bet I’m a fan baby! I don’t know of anyone in Boise who’s not. And our sound smacking of Oregon last week proves we’re out to do some awesome things this season too. Smurf turf or nothin’ baby—I bleed blue and orange :)!
(does that sound convincing enough?!)
