Christian Carnival CCXLVI
Posted in Once I Was a Kansas Girl and tagged with Blogness, Christianity, Lists on October 14, 2008Welcome to the 246th Christian Carnival. For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, Christian Carnival is simply “Christian blog writers [sharing] their best posts from the previous week. (Topic is not necessarily about Christianity but must reflect a Christian worldview, and the writer must be Christian to qualify.) “
Okay, let’s get started.
- Michael posted a sermon about David and Goliath on his blog, Sermon Select Online.
- Robert Minto wrote about Psalm 42: Keeping Festival on his blog The Veil Away. What a great reminder that our hope is to praise God.
- FMF presents Tapping into God’s Supernatural Assistance posted at Free Money Finance. God provides financially…yes. I wonder what made him think we needed to hear that this week?
- Raffi Shahinian presents Should We Expect a Saint to be more Schindler-like? on his blog, Parables of a Prodigal World. Interesting thought, especially for a non-Catholic.
- Diane R wrote The (Real) Prosperity Message posted at Crossroads: Where Faith and Inquiry Meet. What is the prosperity message exactly and where in Scripture does it come from? Are parts of it right? Or is it all a sham?
- This week at Light Along the Journey, John discusses how even if we have stopped physically growing, we should all be focused on continuing to grow spiritually in his post Are You Still Growing?
- My post this week is about priorities and trusting God, Hello, My Name is Joe.
- Mark Olson presents On Your “Personal Jesus?”, talking about salvation and the church, posted at Pseudo-Polymath.
- Chris B. asks, “Doing right by our neighbors will require health care reform; how can we go about it without ruining what’s good about our system?” in his post, Physician Heal Thyself posted at Homeward Bound.
- Rodney Olsen presents When your god dies posted at RodneyOlsen.net. What does the latest financial crisis tell us about who we worship?
- Weekend Fisher takes a look at what the Nicene Creed says, and what the various modern churches might add to it if reflected their distinctive doctrines. She wonders: what would your group’s creed look like?
- Drew Tatusko asks, “Is there such a thing as a good prayer on the campaign stump? If there is, there are many reasons why this is most assuredly not one of them,” in his post Prayers on the Stump posted at Notes From Off Center.
- Oct 15 is Blog Action Day, and this year is focused on poverty. Jesus has spoken about this before, and Wickle of A True Believer’s Blog thought it was worth bringing up in his post, A Thought in Preparation for Blog Action Day.
- Old age is supposed to be a time of wisdom and spiritual maturity, but too often it is anything but. Where the term grumpy old men and crabby old woman are based on an unfortunate reality. It doesn’t have to be that way. Claudia discuss this in When I Am Weak on her blog, Standing Straight.
- Jeremy Pierce looks at three often-criticized arguments for an immaterial soul in his post, Three Arguments for Dualism on Parableman.
That’s all for this week’s Christian Carnival. Let me know if there are any errors and I’ll get them fixed up ASAP. Next week, Rodney Olsen will be the host. See you then!
