Could You Check This Out for Me?
Posted in Once I Was a Kansas Girl and tagged with Doctor, Me, Work on October 5, 2008Since I work at a small company, we have a small office in part of a larger office. One of the other offices is some sort of doctor’s office, while the rest of us are mainly in the financial/housing/office-y line of work. As I was walking by the medical office on Friday, I saw someone inside. I don’t know exactly what kind of doctor’s office they are, but they have pictures of a spine and joints and stuff on the wall. I also saw someone in the office playing on the computer (okay, they might have been working, I don’t know).
I’ve been having some back pain for a few weeks now (okay, a month), and it’s starting to get better. But as I was walking by, it was hurting, so the thought cross my mind to go in and ask the dude what was wrong with my back. Maybe he could just feel my lower spine and tell me if something’s maladjusted?
Then I realized that if I did that I would be asking a complete stranger, who may not even be a doctor, to feel up my backside. Maybe that’s not such a wise idea after all…
Have a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable Sunday, everyone, and I’ll see you again on Monday!

Yeah I don’t know if I’d want a complete stranger that I don’t actually know is a doctor feeling up my back personally. Maybe a chiropractor or even something “small” like a mesage will help?

I’d be a bit cautious of that. Better to pay money to a legit expert than to get a free estimate from someone whose credentials are unknown. But that’s just my professional opinion. :)
I’d be happy to help you out with your back, though I realize that may sound a bit creepy – and so I’d add the caveat that it’d only be to get a history. I did a month of sports medicine/orthopedics, so I’m pretty comfortable with all of that stuff. Give me a call sometime and we can chat.

Indeed…I’d be careful who I saw. Ask around and find yourself a reputable chiropractor. I’m a BIG believer in my local guy and the massage therapist in his office.

That reminded me of an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiam” where Larry David asked a random doctor in a hospital to check out a spot on his back, but it turned out that the doctor was really a patient from the psych ward! Probably good that you didn’t ask! LOL

Maybe a chiropractor?

I believe in Chiropractors!! Maybe you should look into an adjustment???
OK. I haven’t actually been to one in about 15 years but I believe in them.

ROTFL – this is totally a thought process that would be going on in my head. I love it. I go to a chiropractor because my back is jacked up….I would recommend asking around for referrals or getting a nice hour massage! ;-)

LOL
That’s pretty funny. Although my thought process would be a bit slower. I would be in there, getting felt up before thinking “umm, something just ain’t right!”

My husband is a Chiropractor. I know one can help you. There are many types of Chiropractic. Personally I prefer the activator instead of manipulation. If you go that rout, be sure the chiropractor is certified in the Activator method. There are many who use it without the training they need. Massage therapy can be a great help also. But if your back is out of alignment, the massage will only make you feel better for a little while. You need to be put back into alignment and then have the muscles massaged to help hold the adjustment.
Hope you do feel better soon.

Didn’t proof again. You would think I would learn. Should be- If you go that route……….

I agree with Granny up there /\ – i believe in chiropractic too.
Just find a good one. And yes… get an adjustment THEN get a massage.
Love em!
