I Must Be Really Weird

This is not the lame-o post I promised from back on Thursday. That post should be up tomorrow. Or the next day. It would be kinda funny to string you along for something that isn’t worth all the hype.

Okay, Okay. I get the point. You all think I’m weird. In a week’s time, I was tagged by three people for essentially the same meme, which is one I’ve done before. First Hi-D, then Irish Coffeehouse, then Heather. Well ladies, you’ve got your wish. Here’s an sequel presentation of 7 weird things about me!

First off:

The rules are:

1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share seven facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Now, this is what is weird/random about me:

1. I don’t like things left half open: drawers, doors, conversations. All the way closed or all the way shut. My dad used to tease me about this when I was younger and would close my door just a smidge, so I’d have to get up and go and open it back fully.

2. I REALLY hate to be surprised/scared. I have been known to bite off someone’s head if they scared me (figuratively, just in case you thought I was really that weird).

3. I don’t like gum. Or mint. I can handle mint for brushing my teeth, but that’s about it. I used to like gum, but I had it a lot one summer we went to Colorado and never looked back since. I also have TMJ so it hurts to chew.

4. I also don’t like ketchup. This was actually a stubborn decision made by a 6yo Ronnica. My dad eats it on everything, which I thought was gross, so I decided to take the opposite approach and eat it on nothing. I don’t like tomatoes anyway, so it’s not that far of a stretch, but I really think I don’t like ketchup only because I decided not to like it and now I’m not used to the taste. The one exception? Meatloaf.

5. I do the last few things in my bedtime routine in the dark. I really like the dark. I check my alarm, put on lotion, put on my Lipsmaker (see #6), go to the bathroom, get a drink, and do anything else I forgot to do in the dark. It was much easier done in my old room, where I could always be touching something and know exactly where I am. But this room has a landmine (the ottoman) and a big open space between the dresser and the bed that I have to traverse. I’m getting better at it, though.

6. I’m so totally addicted to Lipsmaker lip gloss it isn’t even funny. I usually reapply every 20-3o minutes. More frequently if I’m drinking something. I tried to switch to a more grown-up chapstick, but it doesn’t feel the same. My favorite flavor is, of course, Dr. Pepper, but I like most of the other flavors, too. I have them everywhere (in my bag, in my work drawer, on my desk, on my reading table, in every purse, and in every jacket), but I usually have to replace at least one of those tubes a month. My guess is that I eat about 1 oz of Lipsmacker in a year (and each little tube is only .14 oz).

7. When I was in college I dabbled a lot in different subject areas. Pretty much the only major type of class I didn’t take was a business class. And what am I doing now? Work in financial counseling. It would have really been helpful to have taken one or two classes in the subject back then…

I usually try not to tag people on memes, and I’m going to have to abide by that policy on this one. This is just too popular of a meme and I know most of you have done it. If for some reason you haven’t, then consider this your tag!

Hmmmmmm…I’d say not weird, just Comfortably Different. You know, some say toMAYto and some say toMAHto, right? BTW, I’ve posted something today about the disappearance of the puzzling Blogstalker, who seems to have evaporated from Cyberspace. I notice that you’re on his/her/its blogroll, so thought I’d touch base. Please drop by and weigh in on this mystery!

  2. Smoochiefrog Says:

I’m just like you on the door thing. Drives me nuts!

  3. Lynda Says:

    You’re not THAT weird :-)

  4. haffnewie Says:

Yaaaay! You did it! Sorry you got tagged so many times. I am fairly new to the blogg world and didn’t know how all this tagging stuff went. I see now that it can be a pain in the patootie for us… but fun to read for everyone else!
I am so with you on #6! My husband teases me about all my lipsmackers! And I too have them all over the house and car, in my purse…etc. Love them!!
    Have a great week!

  5. Kat Says:

Hmmm…we have a lot of the same “quirks.” Though I refuse to do that meme on the grounds that they are preferences, not quirks.

I like things opened or closed. Usually closed. Despise ketchup. And I find gum is usually too spicy…

  6. mrsbear Says:

I like doing stuff in the dark too, for some reason. I have to wait till my eyes adjust though, that first instance of blackness is always kind of surprising.

  7. Jennie Says:

I have an addiction to chapstick too… I have them stashed all over hte house, in my purse, diaper bag, car….. Oh, and I don’t like to be scared either….

  8. Tabitha Blue Says:

This is such a great way to get to know someone… so all that’s weird about them! These are really just quirks… you’re not that weird. Well, I can’t understand the gum thing, I love gum. And ketchup too, just not on everything. Thanks for the laugh. :)

  9. WheresMyAngels Says:

So I am wondering if you have OCD. Cause that Lipsmaker comment has got me thinking so! lol

  10. Brian and Staci Says:

I like your list…funny about your fact you think you probably eat at least 1 oz of your lipsmacker in a year, lol!! Good for you for giving up gum for you TMJ’s sake :) Hey, since you don’t like mint…maybe you could try one of the other flavors like cinnamon or the kids fruity flavors?? Thanks for stopping by! I bet you are SOOO pumped for this weeks game! We are actually going to go!!! Gotta love OU/TX rivalry!! I’ll yell extra loud so you can hear me! BOOMER SOONER!!

  11. Live.Love.Eat Says:

I’m sure my husband wishes I was more like your #1. I tend to leave things open. I go all out to vacuum the house but when I’m done, I’m done, so I put it back in the closet with the cord trailing behind.

  12. Michelle Says:

You are so darn funny! I have never thought about how much lip gloss I have probably consumed over the years!

By the way, my letter to my boobs was inspired in part by your spider letter!!

  13. Susie Says:

Isn’t that a fun getting-to-know-you meme? You and I have 1 and 2 in common. No Jason or Freddie for us.

  14. Natalie Says:

I was right there with you with the open/closed cabinet doors…but you lost me at the ketchup. I like a little (any food item) with my ketchup. The “hot” ketchup – which isn’t really hot, just yummy – Heinz puts out in Europe is sooooo good. I miss it. Thanks for stoppin’ by my blog. What instrument did you play? My daughter calls it her life :).

  15. gingela5 Says:

Oh, I hate ketchup too! I used to like it so I’m not sure where the dislike came from. I really don’t like any condiments–just white gravy! haha (which I realize isn’t technically a condiment!)

  16. Dawn Says:

I’m with you on #2, and #4. I have TMJ, but chew gum anyway, and yes, it does hurt! Great answers!

  17. JourneytoFamily Says:

I love reading these when people do this one. I don’t like mint either. Not even really in toothpaste.

  18. Heather Says:

I’m with you on hating to be scared. It feels like my heart is jumping out of my chest!

  19. Rhea Says:

You are the second person today who has mentioned not chewing gum due to TMJ. The other was a lady at the grocery store after my dad offered her gum (weird, I know).

My younger son loves ketchup. He sucks it straight from packets. Weird, I know.

    Fun answers!

  20. TMI Says:

You can’t be that weird because I’m with you on 6 of the 7 items. Or maybe we’re both weird? Hmmmm. self introspection time!

  21. Jacki Says:

I am a total chapstick junkie….and you know what? Sometimes I’ll treat myself to some LipSmackers. Emma and I will buy one of the mega packs and split it. :-)

  22. illahee Says:

thanks for visiting my blog via BATW!!

  23. Brooke Says:

I just did a similar post on my blog. I am pretty sure all it did was let people know how strange I am. I think is makes us all a little closer, right?! :) At least now I know I am not the only weird one!

  24. mrsmouthy Says:

Okay, but what if they started making ketchup scented lip-smackers? What would you do then?

  25. RhondaLue Says:

I think lipsmackers and chap stick have something in their ingredients that make you addicted to them. I think I really heard that on the news once. :)

Very interesting meme. I liked it. I think I like you already! :)

  26. EmmaP Says:

ok too funny! I also am not a fan of mint. I mean I enjoy fresh breath and all – but Mint Ice Cream??? Mint Choclote Candy??? no way! It just makes me feel like I am eating chocolate filled with toothpaste; cant do it. I don’t like to chew gum! I did breath mints for years. However, when I tried to start losing weight, I found that chewing a tiny half piece of gum helped. It wasn’t too big for my jaw to handle – plus having that fresh breath – i didn’t want to “mix” it with other flavors like chips or candy. gross. Love the bedtime rituals too!

  27. "J" Says:

Your #2. I’m like you! I can’t stand to be surprised/scared…iut’s funny you blog about this! Just last night I had just got out of the shower – I was cleaning the water out of my ear with a Q-tip when Shad decided he wanted so surprise/scare me!!! I jammed the q-tip in my ear and went to sleep in total pain!!! NOT COOL AT ALL!!! He felt soooooooooooo bad!!!! That just goes to show you…you should try and scare someone!!! It’s NOT nice!!!!!
