I Was the 80s

Photobucket

Every once in a while, I’m proud to be young. Like today, on “We Were the 80s” Day. While many other participants show off their mile-high hair and embarrassing clothing, I get to show off this:

Okay, okay, so that’s not the only picture I have from the 80s. That’s only 1983. I do have a few more gems for ya.

Look, it’s me and my brother! I must have been newly 3 at the time (that’d make this 1985). He’s a year and a half younger than me, but I think he’s always had a bigger head than me. Oh, and look at the sass on his face! My mom always had the hardest time trying to get him to smile at the camera. I, however, was a perfect little child. =)

And yes I had blonde hair. My hair changed colors a lot as a kid. It eventually made up it’s mind and decided on light/medium brown.

This may be one of my favorite pictures from my childhood. We both look so happy. I was probably just 6. Those curls? Definitely done with the foam rollers you slept in. I’m really surprised that they held up this long. My hair wouldn’t hold a curl back then (and now I try to get it to hold straight).

Okay, I have one more picture from the 80s, and I’m not in it. It is a picture of my parents with my brother:

Sorry it’s so blurry, but it was scanned nearly 10 years ago, and the camera I used to take it was one of those little kiddie ones with the 110 film. Boy, my parents look young! Actually they still do, but they would have been in their 20s in the picture.

And yes, all these pictures are from Christmas. It’s just what I have. I don’t have direct access to my childhood pictures as my parents have them 20 hours away.
So what did you look like in the 80s?

  1. Your brother in the red suit is just priceless. Haven’t seen one of those before.

How did I have such great 80′s hair? Foam rollers! They were de bomb!

  2. I managed to come up with a few beauties, picture-wise, of myself in the 80s for my post. It’s probably a good thing that I live far from my parents, so I only had access to a few of the old pictures. I’m sure there are some real doozies (think neon blue eye shadow, eye liner AND mascara all worn at the SAME time) in their house! Hee!

    You young’un, you! :D

    Happy 80s day!

  3. Love the blue suit and the stach on your dad!!!! I wish I could show you my 80′s pics, but they are all in the attic since we moved….

  4. I do not want the world to know what I looked like in the 80′s! Then again, it would be good for some laughs!

    This post was great!

  5. I was an 80′s baby too!! You were so precious when you were little! (not that you aren’t now ;)) My grandmother just gave me an entire album from when I was little! I will have to get some of the pictures and scan and post tonight! How fun!!

  6. These pictures are priceless. As for what I looked like, pictures show me as being a tow-headed kiddo with a mullet.

    Yeah. Scary.

  7. LOL! I could have been your babysitter in the 80′s! I really wanted to participate in this, but I haven’t had time to dig up any pictures!!!!

  8. Cute pics! I LOVE the curly poodle hair from the foam rollers! hated sleeping in them though – ugh. you’ve inspired me. I have a bday coming up (ugh)…but perhaps i will scan some pics of myself…tee hee.

  9. Great pictures! I was pretty young in the 80′s too but I still have some horrendous outfits and hair. Maybe someday I’ll showcase the pics!

  10. Hmm…in the 80s…mid 80s to be exact, I was 8 years old. I’ll have to scan some pictures…I was cute. Toothless…and a torturer of the little brother.

  11. Oh boy, were the 80s great for clothing and hair. I had more than my share of acid-washed jeans, poofy bangs and Forenza shirts. Believe it. I was so cool.

  12. You were so cute! Still are chick. My eighties look a little different since I was a teenager.

I linked to you on my blog post this evening :)

  13. I had some similar outfits to yours in the ’80s; we must be about the same age. Gotta love those little-girl dresses with the poofs and the collars. I slept in foam rollers too, and they didn’t work too well for me, either.

  14. I was a 70′s baby and a pre-teen in the 80′s…actually started High School in the 80′s. I definitely sported the high bang, feathered hair look (on good days!). No pictures scanned in though.
