What am I doing here if I’m on a bloggy break? Well, I didn’t say officially when I’d start said break. So I decided to go ahead and give you another (hopefully short!) school day memory.
The school system I went to from 2nd grade on was rather small, but growing rapidly. They had the children split up between buildings a little differently than most. For that reason, I went to the primary school in 2nd grade and then the elementary school in 3rd grade. At the end of your 2nd grade year, they take you over to the elemementary school to give you a little orientation. While that is happening, the 3rd graders go back to their original 2nd grade classroom and get to spend that time there with their old 2nd grade teacher. It’s a neat experience really: to go back to your old class a year later, sort of like a 1-year reunion of your primary school experience.
When it was our turn to go back to 2nd grade, we were so proud. After all, we were a year older! “Look at all those little kindergarteners and 1st graders! We’re so much bigger than them!”
The only thing I really remember about going back is all of us looking up at the ceiling of our old classroom to see if the spitwads that some of the guys had shot to the ceiling were still there. We were amazed that they still were.
And that was the extent of my memory of revisiting 2nd grade. Not that that isn’t important…
Have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you when I see you!

College Senior Year: Why Procrastination Might Not Be My Thing
You sure remember a lot more about your younger years than I do. I think all of the wild studying I did in college and med school suppressed any memories of what life was like back when I had the freedom to have one.
I just suffer from CRS – Can’t Remember S***. :)
I would love to remember my childhood. I would love to remember my kiddo’s. And he’s only 10. :|
This is what I’m sayin’.
But what a fun memory!
I envy you remembering so much about your younger years. Those memories are so precious.
Enjoy your break.
hahaha! gross. and i’m sure many more were added over the next several years!
Another KS girl!
Hi! I was raised in KS from 1st grade until I met my husband at 21 and moved to Oklahoma. We spent 4 years in Altus Oklahoma (air force base) and now we are in MO. I just read your blog about family size..and the ‘three pack of tickets’. Yes I agree family sizes are dwindling aren’t they? I have noticed a TON of bloggin girls who are choosing to have LARGE families now through adoption. We have 3 daughters, two with us and one in Heaven. We are praying about adopting and hoping that God will take us down that road in His time! :)
Just thought I would stop in and say HELLO KS GIRL! :o)
In God’s grace!
Kelly
Ewww! What a thing to remember. lol
Haha, sounds like a fun memory, who wouldn’t remember spit wads!! Although, I don’t remember too much about school or that age in general… just random memories here and there. Thanks for sharing! :)
~Tabitha~
What a fun memory! Do they still do that?
haha! this is funny! I think if i went back to my old school there would still be spitwads on the ceiling too! hehe!
I’m with the others. I wish I remembered as much about my childhood. I do remember that in kindergarten this boy said he would kiss any girl but me. Hmmm, maybe there’s a reason I don’t remember a lot of stuff.
The spit wads I remember were all pointed at me. Trips down memory lane can be painful. I think I go sit in the corner now and suck my thumb.
Too funny!

Aw, you really DID do another school memory day! Thank you!
Great memory! There’s nothing like being the older ones…until you’re out of college and have to get a real job!
Ugh…….spitwads are so gross.
What a great memory! Definitely unique. I’m always amazed at what smells and sounds conjure up in my mind about days gone by. It’s so great. For example, roses/fresh flowers…when I smell them, I think of going to the Swap Meet on Sunday mornings with my great uncle…after eating breakfast at Bob’s Big Boy of course!
Hey. Thanks for dropping by my blog on blogathon day. I’m just now getting to making the rounds of visiting everybody’s blogs. I love your blog. You’re like me…I remember a lot of my childhood. Isn’t it funny the things you can remember? Oh well, maybe it means we won’t be too senile when we get old.
great school memory.. I can still remember things that I wore to school way back then… I wanted to say thanks for the book… I received it on Saturday and I can’t wait to read it.. I will be giving you a shout out on my blog, but do you want me to link back to this blog? just email me and let me know, thanks again…
Ewww, spitwads! LOL
I remember my best friend & I spitting them back and forth while she was at my house for a sleepover. I also remember all the white wads all over the place when I cleaned my room the next day. Ick!!
