Can I ask you a question? I promise, it’s not a serious one. If you were to walk into this bathroom, which stall would you use?
A, B, C, D, or E (from left to right). A is the handicapped stall. assume that they are all clean, have no issues, and you are in the bathroom alone. The picture is taken right next to the door.
This is an actual picture of the actual bathroom that I visit regularly. “My” stall is B. I have found that the other ladies that work on my hall also have specific stalls that they usually gravitate towards. Is there anything to be learned from our throne of choice?
Which stall would you choose?
Oh, and I was terrified that someone would walk in when I was taking the picture. How would I have explained that I wanted to post a silly question on my blog? Non-bloggers just don’t seem to get us…
I imagine that if I chose any of those stalls I’d be arrested for being in the ladies’ loos.
E for sure! I like the security of the wall. Great post idea. Will have to check back to see everyone elses responses.
I think it would have been way funny if someone caught you taking that picture.
Have a great day!
First female species to answer. It would probably be E or B. I avoid using the handicap stall unless I have my granddaughter with me and I have to take her in with me and they seem to be a bit larger, or if the bathroom is busy I will use it.
B would be my choice if I had waited to long, and E if I had not. E, because it is at the far end and affords me more privacy.
There, you have an answer.
Glad you did not get caught taking this picture.
A. I’m lazy and like my space.
I’ve wondered the same thing myself. Does your stall choice say something about your personality? I always pick the one closest to the door and next to a wall if possible. So I’m an “A” gal.
i don’t know if i really have a preference. i do know that i would most likely never choose d. maybe not even c. i tend to go in the first one or second one or walk to the end. i have no idea why.
I would choose B, as well. Never A, never D. I never use the handicap stall unless all others are full. I never use the one the farthest from the door, because I fear that is the one that everyone chooses. At work, my stall corresponds with the C stall in this photo, but it is because the lock on stall B is broken. Summary: I always choose the stall closest to the door that is not handicap accessible :) (Have actually thought a lot about this. Too much.)
Ronnica, I think you are the only person who would ever think of posting a blog like this. But I’m glad you did.
I would probably choose either B or C. I’m not sure why, but I usually will either go to the second stall or the middle stall unless they are icky.
I would probably pick d or e. I tend to not go for the ones closest to the door… I guess I feel like somebody is more likely to walk in on me when I’m closer to the door? I never really thought about it :)
I would choose “B” b/c I usually pick the first one but since “A” is the handicap one I would go for “B.”
I would pick either B or D but I don’t know why.
If I was with my daughter definately stall A they have a lot more room.
If it was me I just cruise until I find what I think is the cleanest one.
Interesting post.
E or D…but that’s assuming they are closer to the sink and paper towels, which I am picturing on the wall closest to E.
Fun survey!
My very first thought would be – is the POTTY CLEAN, IS THERE T.P?, has the toilet been flushed . . . then I will choose a stall, based on if I have a child with me. If I have one of the kids – stall A, if I am alone – stall E.
I would prefer to use E because of the wall and nobody wouldbe on one side of me. But then I have this fear that I’ll pass the others by and then E will be a MESS that I ain’t goin’ in…therefore I start with C and go into the cleanest looking one (no seat drippies), etc.
I love your deep thinking about this matter!!! ;)
LOL!
If Emma is with me, I choose the handicap stall (A)….more room for us to maneuver.
If it is just me, I always choose A. I honestly don’t know why.
A. I hate stalls that are so small you have to straddle the toilet just to close the door.
Having two girls I have a habit of picking the Handicapped stall. Also, I dislike stalls where you have to nearly stand on the side of the toilet to close the door. Eww!
So in this situation I would chose A. Now are you going to wow us with the stats on which number stall gets used the most??
I would choose E everytime, as long as the scenario is just as presented! I would rather be at the end, seems like more privacy…i dunno. funny you should ask. and no – the nonBloggers just don’t get us.
What an interesting topic to ponder! At work, I usually gravitate towards this one stall that’s on the left side, in the middle. If I’m in public, I always pick the first stall. I hear it’s the least used, which means fewer germies.
Now I’m going to be more aware of my decision!
LOL!! I love this post and I love all the answers!
I would pick B or C…I always skip the first stall as it is the one most gravitate towards. The middle of the road seems to be the “less” used of all stalls, and from reading the posts above it seems true. E people want a wall with no one in it, and A people want more space (I use it if it is busy).
MissWisabus sent me on over here. Honestly, I am an “A” girl. I like to use the handicap toilet. Why? As it seems confirmed here in the answers – most people avoid the handicap stall. And thus, I find them less often used, and generally cleaner. Plus, they are generally higher up off the ground, which for tall people works a little better when you need to squat. The BEST set up for me – a handicap stall farthest away from the door – less likely to be used. On campus I can go to a 7pm class, and the toilet seat is still up from when it was cleaned the night before – no one goes in there all day it seems!
I would definitely take E the one next to the wall with only one neighbor. Looks darker too. For the record I’m usually the one sitting in the back corner in class, trying to blend or maybe disappear. So what does the stall of choice reveal?
I don’t know why, but I usually choose the second stall. I think it’s due to self-esteem issues. I’m not good enough for the first stall.
At my old office I always chose B. I’m not sure if that is typical of me… I’ll have to pay attention
I would have picked “C”! lol
You are sooooooooooooooooo right! Non-bloggers sooooooooooooooooooo don’t get us!!!!! =)
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!
(((HUGS)))
B! The others are clearly germ-ridden and anyone who uses them should head straight to the OB for a thorough examination! Although in an emergency, A would be somewhat acceptable–if you foot-flushed and elbow-locked.
Well, ever since I read an article on AOL Health my public restroom use has not been the same! I USED to go straight for C in this picture until I read this…
The worst stall to pick in a public restroom
The one in the middle: The center stall has more bacteria than those on either end, according to unpublished data collected by Gerba. No, you won’t catch an STD from a toilet seat. But you can contract all manner of ills if you touch a germy toilet handle and then neglect to wash your hands thoroughly.
Now, I will go for stall A (handicap or not) or stall E. You WILL NEVER find me in a center stall ever again. I will hold it if I have to or wait until I get home. Oh and I use my foot to flush, hover when possible and wipe the seat BEFORE I sit down!!!
BTW, you took my idea for a post. I just haven’t had the chance to take a pic of a bathroom yet! ;)
I’ve heard that the first stall is the cleanest because everyone usually goes to the farthest one for more privacy. I wanted one of my kids to do a Science Fair project about it. I’ve begun going to the first one.
I usually go to the first stall. I also have heard they are usually the cleanest.
Always B- I’m a 2nd stall girl, but now that so many people have admitted to the same less germy thinking I’ve had I may have to switch to a lesser used…
I read somewhere once that you should choose the first stall??? But since that is handicapped…and I am not…I would go with B too!
Just wanted to give you one more shout out before the game! It’s 11:30 and I have to be up in 5 hours…going to bed right now but I just wanted to say BOOMER SOONER!! Enjoy the game!
am I awful that I always choose the handicapped stall? I usually have two small children with me and I like the extra room :).
People stare at me all the time for photographing things I see. And then they shake their heads when I say :it’s for my blog ;)
I would probably choose ‘A’ after scoping out and making sure there are no handicap people in the vicinity…seriously! And ‘E’ because both are next to the wall.
Fun question!
God bless,
Brenda :)

After reading all these, it seems D is the least used. Good post!
I seemed to have missed this post…until now, that is.
Me? Depending on how bad I had to pee, would pick the nearest empty one. But I would generally go for E. Because it’s farthest from the door and I am a bit paranoid about some guy standing outside the ladies room being able to see my whoo-ha through the cracks.
Just sayin’.
I’m thinkin D. What a fun post!!!
I almost always choose A or the first stall because a long time ago I heard that the first stall is the least used stall and the cleanest in a public bathroom. Most women use B-E. If BOTH girls are with me I will use whichever one is handicapped.
If I have Kiddo with me and it is open, I’d take A every time – more room to maneuver with an extra body in the stall.
If I’m alone? E all the way. (Given the assumption that all the stalls are equally clean. Cleanliness is key for me in a public restroom, even if “hovering” is done.)
Funny survey! :D
A. because many times the handicap stall has a sink and more importantly paper towels.
I would pick B. If it were taken, I’d go with E.
