I Hope Its Not Ominous to Bake Pies on Black Friday

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I did, but it wasn’t particularly Thanksgiving-y. We avoided pretty much anything holiday-related (other then watching football, but we only watched the college game, so I don’t know if that counts) so that we wouldn’t be tired of it by the time we celebrate it on Saturday and Sunday.

My flights yesterday were uneventful. As I walked up to my gate for my flight to Wichita, there was a couple of screaming children having a fit (two different families). Fortunately, those situations were taken care of before we boarded, and I never heard either child on the plane.

Once I got to Wichita, it took a good 40 minutes for them to put our luggage on the carousel. And once they did, my bag wasn’t there. This was the 3rd time this has happened to me, and always in Wichita. I went to the desk, and once someone who knew the baggage system came up, I found out that it was on the next flight. I’m so thankful it was!

While we were waiting for the next flight to come in, we went to IHOP. We almost went to Golden Corral (limited choices because of the holiday; we would have loved Mexican!), but didn’t really want turkey and the works.

After getting a much needed/desired long-night’s rest, I hope to have an enjoyable day helping my mom make some pies. I’m sure we’ll have time for some relaxing, too!

Question for you: do you have any crazy Black Friday memories?

I can’t recall any crazy memories of black Fri. other than the few times I was ‘crazy’ enough to get up super early for the deals. Not this year, I slept in today.
    Have a great weekend, Ronnica.
    God bless,
    Brenda :)

I’ve never really done anything special for Black Friday. Sometimes I’ve had to work, others not, but I pretty much never go shopping. I have only had my luggage lost once, on a flight from KC to Baltimore for a visit before I moved here. It was missing for two days. I had NOTHING. I had to go buy all new clothes, including underwear. That’s when I learned to always pack the most important stuff and at least a change of undies in my carryon.

I hope you enjoy your time in Kansas.

Last year was a particularly memorable Black Friday. My mom got me up earlier than ever last year so that we could be at Kohl’s when they opened. Kevin and I were up until about midnight and then my mom got me up at 2:30. We went to about 4 different places and were done by 8 or 9, I can’t remember that. We met the guys for breakfast and then my mom, stepdad, Kevin and I went to pick out my mom and stepdad’s Christmas trees. Here’s the memorable part…while we were putting the lights on the tree in the living room they shorted out. Well, while we were taking them off I got shocked. I had 2 tiny holes in my arm. I threw the lights and they started working again. My stepdad said something to me and I thought he was fussing at me so I yelled “but it shocked me” and then started crying. Kevin came in and hugged me. All I could say is “I’m just so tired.” My mom and Kevin immediately ordered me upstairs to take a nap. :)
    Happy Black Friday!

I remember one year vowing to never do black friday at wal-mart EVER. EVER. again.

We were crammed in like sardines, couldn’t move. I’m a lil claustrophopic so I didn’t like it!!

But I usually go to at least a few stores. This year I had to get another spine injection at the hospital so I was too busy and drugged to shop. Oh well..don’t have much moola anyhow!
