What I’ve Done
Posted in Once I Was a Kansas Girl and tagged with Grammar, Lists, Meme on November 14, 2008Yes, I totally sang the Linkin Park song in my head when I wrote that title. Good song.
Have you ever been watching American Idol, SYTYCD, or one of the other ridiculous reality shows out there and thought, “I can do that!”? Or maybe you’d like YOUR chance to look like a fool on national television. Well, I just might be able to help you out.
No, I’ve not suddenly become a casting director for the lastest show, “What We’re Hoping You’ll Watch so We Can Get Rich Selling Advertising.” But I do have the hook-up with Liz’s Got Talent that’s coming to the little screen (13″ or 17″ or whatever you have on your desk/lap) near you.
If you don’t know Liz, she’s come up with a couple of hilarious videos herself, and now she’d like to see yours. Feel free to join us over there next Friday! If enough of you poke me, you just might see me post a video of my “talent.” I know you can’t wait.
Now that you’ve agreed to join me, I’m moving on…
Saw this on Jacki’s and Linda’s blogs and thought I’d play along. Btw, does anyone know if the grammar on that last sentence is correct? I mean, I know it’s missing a subject, but whatev. The question is should I have put the possessive on both “Jacki” and “Linda” or just “Linda?” Situations like this bug me because I don’t know the right answer.
Anyway, the things on the list that are in bold I have done.

Good morning, girl! This sounds like a fun blog subject. I might even post a video on YouTube of one of my talents – I totally have some! LOL (and I KNOW that’s not grammatically correct)

Love your new layout! That is a great list–I’m sure I’ve hardly done any of those sadly! But it seems like you’ve had 1/3 of a full life! haha

I was here this morning and the page wasn’t blue. Now it feels all winter-ish. Very nice (a bit disturbing after getting used to how something is SUPPOSED to look…lol…but I’ll get used to it and grow to love it.)

Good thing I clicked over today. LOVE your new blog design.
I just came over to say… Yes, your grammar was correct, making both names possessive.
November 14th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
well I’m glad you’ve never been involved in a lawsuit or stung by a bee….me either!!
I’d love to see you learn a new art-a really “out there” one…maybe dance. How ’bout bellydancing?? sounds awesome. Can’t wait to see it!

Love, love, love the new look! Very seasonal and festive! I am ALL about winter. I agree that your grammar was correct. If it were one blog then you would only put the ‘s on the last name but since it is a blog of each of theirs then that is correct. I might have to do that list one of these days.

I LOVE your new Christmas blog!!! And you must share the story about kissing in the rain. ;-)
November 16th, 2008 at 12:04 am
You are correct to put the possessives on both names because they are two different blogs. If it was one (or more for that matter) blog(s) run by Jackie and Linda then you would write Jackie and Linda’s blog(s). You must check out the Grammar Girl podcasts. I love them!
Now, I have to go back and read through your list!

Looks like I’ve still got some things to do though!
