A Very-Chicago Christmas Eve

Sorry to keep you in suspense, but I had a hard time getting online at the airport. No, I didn’t get on the second flight because I got bumped off the standby list, because someone marked me as on the first flight (if only!). I didn’t get on the third and final flight, but would have been next to go if there was one more spot. Fortunately, that flight was still fairly early giving me time to come back to the hotel. I’m now handwashing some laundry for tomorrow, taking a shower (okay, not right now, but I did), and relaxing on this most unusual Christmas Eve.

Don’t feel sorry for me, really. I’m comfortable, relaxing (something I’ve desperately needed to do), and I’ve got my boys (Ocean’s 13 is on). I’m booked and checked in on the first flight in the morning, and the weather shouldn’t be a problem. I put my hair up in Dorothy-esque braids (about the only thing I can do with my hair with just shampoo and a comb is braids) so that should help, right? I should be in Kansas by mid-morning tomorrow, not missing any of the Christmas celebrations!

For some reason, your wintery plight reminds me of Kevin’s mom in Home Alone. Maybe you should’ve hitched a ride back to Kansas with some polka guys from Wisconsin…and John Candy.
