If you're gonna minister to people, you gotta know your audience. And for girls that age...Edward Cullen sets a high bar for future boyfriends. I read the first book and hated it. Its 800 pages of a teenage girl whining about her life. I have that going on in my own home, why would I read about it? But my daughter devoured the books. And because I had some frame of reference, she, her friends and I have been able to have lots of interesting conversations that have given me insight (mostly good) about her that I might not have known otherwise.
So while I don't embrace it as "literay genius", I do appreciate the insight its given me into what's going on in young girls' lives...specifically my own daughter and her circle of friends.
Sorry, I didn't mean to be so lengthy. Maybe I should have just written a post on my own blog instead. =\

I read the first two and enjoyed them. But when I reread the first one it bored me and I saw a lot of flaws I hadn't seen before. And Bella is really annoying.

I have read two of the Twilight books, and I am bored with them. The story would be better if the woman could actually write well. I agree with the previous commenter...the books are too wordy sometimes. And the main character, Bella, gets on my nerves! She's annoying. So I can't read a book about a character I find completely annoying. But I do think the guy they have playing Edward in the movie is hot. I might watch it for him.

I've left an award for you over at my blog. Hope you stop by and pick it up. (I enjoy reading your blog and I wasn't the least bit interested in Twilight. But that's just me.)

It was refreshing to read your comments. I was sure you were going to have people gushing about Twilight, and possibly about The Dark Knight. But it seems like your commenters are like me, not that interested and not really caring. If you do see the movies hope you enjoy them though. Nothing like wasting your money on a bad movie :)

I have not read any of the Twilight series and I probably won't. I don't really get it either. I never go to movies any more, although I do kind of like superhero movies. I wasn't a big fan of The Dark Knight. I didn't think it was as good as everyone else seemed to.

Loved Twilight but it was because I LOVE romance but only clean romance. Twilight was juvenile-ish and it fell into my criteria for movies.

Hancock was the shocker movie of the year for me. We rented it a couple of weeks ago and I was SHOCKED at the content because of the PG-13 rating. It was too filled with language, alcohol use, and violence to be a mere PG 13. As a rule, unless it is a clean teeny bopper romantic movie, or a musical, I am probably not going to like current movies.

Ronnica, I'm working on my comprehensive argument against The Twilight Saga right now. I wrote a little on it a while back, but didn't get very deep into it then. For now I will just say that I believe it is disgusting and extremely harmful for pre-teen girls. But it's something you can get sucked into. Look at me. I finished the series in no time.

The Dark Knight...eh. I watched it to see Heath Ledger's performance and it's a little entertaining. Not a favorite though.
