I Trust You, Lord

This past week it seems like worries old and new have been coming to my mind a lot.  It’s not that I have a real cause to worry when I really think about my life, but it’s so incredibly easy to fall back into it again and again.

When these worries come to mind, I’ve found myself mini-praying, “I trust You, Lord,” and giving up that worry to Him once again.  I’m amazed at how many times I have to use those four words, but it’s a wonderful reminder to me of how I can cast my anxieties upon Him, knowing that He does care for me (1 Peter 5:7).

I was having one of these moments as I was doing my Bible reading last night, and only seconds later, these are the words God spoke back to me through His Word:

“ For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
         The LORD gives grace and glory;
         No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
   O LORD of hosts,
         How blessed is the man who trusts in You!”
- Psalm 84:11-12

The Lord reminded me so timely that He blesses those who trust in Him.  By placing my trust in Him, He promises to bless: not necessarily with the working-out of my worries in the way I want them worked out, but in the way that He desires them to work out.  God is in control and can take care of these worries and others that I might have.

And I can rest assured in my loving, competent God.

  1. When I find myself worrying I usually turn to Phil. 4:8

    ” Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. ”

    It helps me to get my mind out of the gutter and focusing on what the Lord has provided.

  2. Oh that’s good, Ronnica. I love when He speaks to us that way. His ways are not our ways, THAT’s for sure. He knows your heart and knows that all He had to do is direct you to the right scripture to calm your spirit. If He completely unfolded his Plan for our lives and we knew exactly what was going to happen tomorrow, would we still depend on Him, come to Him for ‘chats’ and fellowship? I wonder.

  3. And how much BETTER the Lord’s “working out” of worries is than what we could ever do! I’ve found that what I would have done to solve the problem isn’t even close to as good as what God really did! Also good ‘ole reliable Philippians 4:6-7 works for me.

  4. your post spoke to my heart right now with all our sickness going on. Thanks for sharing, I am going to go meditate on those verses and trust in the Lord that we will be well soon. It is so hard with my kiddos up all night coughing and fevers. Thanks for your prayers!

  6. So very true and yet hard to practice, for me at least. I’m having to trust Him right now though that He’ll give us the best assignment for His will…and I’m having to be patient while we wait to hear. Trust actually is what I think most Christians struggle with.
