My Big Valentine’s Day Plans

I’m not a moper (okay, not most of the time, anyway).  I won’t be spending this couple-y holiday whining about not having a man.  To be honest, I think that I won’t really like Valentine’s Day as much when/if I’m in a relationship.  What’s the fun of cards and prettiness if you are expecting it?

No, I won’t be doing that this weekend, but I don’t have big plans, either.  The last few Valentine’s Days I’ve been babysitting, which is a fun/productive way to spend the holiday.  Probably because of the economy, I don’t have a gig for tomorrow night, but I’m glad.  This week has been so incredibly exhausting at work, that I’m looking forward to spending time at home catching up on reading (you know I have a schedule for my fun personal reading, right?).  It’ll be a fun evening, but I’m going to make myself clean my room and bathroom first because they really need it.  Then I can really enjoy the rest of the day.

Whatever your plans are, I hope that it will be enjoyable and that you’ll remember that God loves you more than anyone else can!  Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. Happy Valentines day Ronnica! I sometimes force myself to do something I don’t want to do (cleaning, laundry, whatever) before I allow myself to indulge in ME time. It’s more relaxing that way when I do finally get to relax. Have a nice weekend!

  2. Sounds like a nice plan to me.
We’ll not be doing anything Valentine-y except just being together, which is what I prefer anyway. I’m like you, sure flowers are nice, but I like them when I’m not expecting them. Grace and I will be making sugar cookies, our little tradition.

  3. Well it doesn’t get anymore romantic than getting up at the buttcrack of dawn to drive a child to dance, sit there for 3 hours and then come home to do laundry. Followed up by attending church b/c your children demand they go so they can pick up their Valentine’s buckets they decorated last week (we don’t normally go to this church). Finishing the day by watching movies by yourself b/c your spouse doesn’t like “chick flicks”. Good times, really.

All that to say I hope you have a great day, whatever you may do!

  4. Maybe it’s time to put the focus of Valentine’s Day where it belongs – on God and on our relationships – all of our relationships, not just the romantical ones.

Tonight, I am going to a banquet with my man beast for a steak dinner and a movie – Fireproof.

Stay tuned to my blog – I’ll be posting my thoughts on it.

  5. Trust me, the only thing worse than Valentine’s Day for single people is Valentine’s Day for married people. Just a whole lot of guilt on both ends for not planning anything romantic in any way. !!

  6. Hmmmm, I’m really glad I didn’t call you to babysit now! Have a fun night embracing the freedom of your singleness! It can be such a blessing, as you already know :)
