My Dream Job

Before I graduated, I looked ahead to just working and was afraid that I would find work boring and unchallenging, doing the same thing day in and day out.  I thought I needed the ongoing mental strain of classroom learning to provide spice to my life.

Then last night as I was thinking of today and the sheer number of free tax returns I would be preparing for clients and the number of phone calls I’d receive, I smiled.  Who knew that I would actually really enjoy my job as my responsibilities increased?

I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised: growing up one of my favorite things to play was secretary.  I’d pretend that people were calling in to make appointments, and I would fit them into a schedule I drew up on notebook paper.  That’s exactly what I do now, except I’m the one that they’re making appointments with, too.  I also get to play around with numbers, and help people who really need it…how cool is that?

That’s all for now…I’ve got to get to work.

That is very cool! Not many can say they really enjoy their job, and I think it’s terrific that you do! And better yet, that you never expected it to be the treasure it is!

Not too many can say they actually enjoy their careers. By my jr. year in highschool I was sure I wanted to be a nurse, until all the science classes I voluntarily took kicked my hiney! Switched to secretarily and loved it.
    Great weekend to ya!

I used to play the same way as a kid. I would love to do taxes as a career. I have told my husband this before and he thinks I am insane lol!!

I used to play teacher – and you know where I am now. I love it. It’s truly a blessing to love ‘work’ because it doesn’t feel like work :)

I’ve always been the secretarial type too. But trust me no one wants me doing their taxes.

Love the new look and new blog title. I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve dropped by. I haven’t been blogging (or reading blogs) for a while. Not sure why. Busy? Overwhelmed? Distracted? Something.

Anyway, glad to hear you’re enjoying work. :)/

Isn’t that amazing how God makes us happier by giving us MORE responsibility? There is such fulfillment in pursuing what GOd has called you to and working on goals and worshiping Him through WORK! Who’da thunk it?

    Glad you enjoy it!

It really is wonderful to find a job that makes you happy. I was very lucky and sort of fell into a job that I loved. So many people hate their jobs, it must make the days so long. Considering you spend 75% of your waking time at work, it just doesn’t seem worth it.

Your great attitude helps you love any job that you do!! In all my years of working there wasn’t one job I hated. On each job I came away with skills that were foundational for the next job! You’ve got me thinking that I’ll work on a post on this topic! Glad you enjoy your job – it’s what you make it!

That’s great that you actually enjoy your job, especially in a day and age where it is hip to complain about work.

I can’t wait until I find a job that makes me smile every day.
