It Ain’t about the Comments

I’ve been rather bummed lately, bloggy speaking, as I have seen a marked decrease in comments on this ol’ blog. Then it dawned on me.

It’s not about the comments.

I don’t blog for the approval of others. I don’t blog to put the spotlight onme. I don’t blog to be the biggest, best, brightest, or boldest.

So, thank you for reading this, anyone who is reading this. I’m humbled that you find these few words worth the moments you spent reading them. And if you do comment? I thank you, sincerely. They’re worth more than two cents.

  1. I’ve seen everyone’s comments and readers going down. I think blogging just runs a normal cycle. I know I have been so insanely busy I haven’t been able to read more than once, twice a week at most. I still think about all my bloggy friends daily though and hope all is well for you!

  2. I understand the comment thing. I have to tell myself often that it is not about the comments, but we do love knowing that others appreciate what we are thinking.
I have not been over to see you for a while because it has taken much of my time to care for my mother during her illness. But……….you and what you think are very appreciated.

  3. Well, we all say it is not about the comments and I am one of those who has said it. And while it is true, I think we all like to know that those who visit either agree and that vindicates us, dissagree, and it can start a lively debate. I actually want comments because I created “BLOG STALKER” for that sole reason. Not always catching on because my time limits my own comments which in turn leaves fewer comments left on my site. It seems to be the general rule.

Anyway, my advice is to keep blogging for you. I for one may not always get time to comment in a timely manner but almost always enjoy reading your posts.

    Have a great day!

  4. I don’t leave comments nearly as much as I should.

Please be assured that while I may not comment, I do read your posts.

I know what it’s like to not get comments so I guess I should be the first one to leave comments on other blogs. Unfortunately life seems to get in the way.

  5. Well here’s a comment for you anyway! I know what you mean…it is disheartening when I stop getting many comments for a while. Then I know it’s time to post something about how cute Matt Damon is, or something equally as silly :)

  6. I try and comment as much as I can. I tend to try and write shorter post and I like to read short post.
I think we’re all stretched for time and like to read as many blogs as possible. When I click on some blogs and I have to scroll my mouse several times just to read the post I’m like aiyiyi.

That is why I like your blog. You are great at getting to the point.
Keep em short and sweet people. ♥ Joy

  7. I agree with others in just because I don’t comment doesn’t mean I don’t read. There are probably many others like that as well. I also like the shortish posts (though i myself am rarely able to write short posts). Don’t give up on writing and don’t give in to the desire for accolades. Do it to shine the light of the Lord to the dark world. :-)

  8. I know what you mean… seems like comments come in ups and downs, but that’s not really the point. I may not comment every time, but I’m reading :)

  9. Chalk it up to Spring Fever. I’m outside more. That means I’m posting and commenting less. Still reading blogs, though. Just have gardening tools in my hand as I quickly read before heading out the door. :)

  10. I’ll have to agree with all of your previous commentor’s. I don’t always comment but do read. And sometimes, especially if it’s a ‘deeper’ post, if a comment doesn’t come to mind at the time I’ve read the post, I take it as something I need to chew on and not just through something out there just to show i was around.
I do enjoy what you have to say.

  11. I’m still with ya’ Ronnica..Late but still here
and thanks for saying this, sometimes I feel like a total
loser because I don’t have much views nor commenters on my blog

    Take care

  12. I hate it because as I’m reprioritizing my life I’m finding less and less time to blog. It’s hard to find time to read blogs as well, and I guess that means commenting takes last place. I do read all your posts, or I will have read them all once I catch up… It’s also harder to comment when I’m using my phone to read blogs. I’m at my computer less and it takes a while to type this out on the phone and correct any errors :) Bottom line–I’m still here even if I’m silent!

  13. I am behind on my blog reading. I look forward to reading several blogs this weekend.

Comments DO mean a lot – that is just the truth. That fellowship that occurs over what you have written is a bit addictive. I have learned though, that when I blog about my faith, it really isn’t about the comments. Because WOW do the comments drop when I talk about the Lord. But that won’t stop me from talking about my faith in Christ when I feel led.

I agree with Jennifer P. – blogging is cyclical and I think it is happening on many blogs.

Facebook has also taken its toll.
