To-Do Lists Are for the Dogs

I no longer use a to-do list.

You know how freeing that feels?  I happened on my latest to-do list (from the week before finals), and realized that I no longer need to do ‘em.  I certainly haven’t missed them these 3 months.

I still have to occasional make a to-do list (on the busiest days at work or when I’m getting ready for a trip, for example), but I don’t need them in my everyday life.  I have goals that I’m seeking to achieve that require baby steps, but I can keep those in my head.  I know that this is just a phase, and at some point in the future I’ll need to write a to-do list again, but until then…

I’ll enjoy being to-do-list free.

I’m with you on that one. I rarely keep a to-do list, although I do mentally keep track of what needs to be completed. Usually, I only need to jot down one or two “things that must be done by the end of the day” on a post-it at work, but on the whole, I’ve got a routine going and I can easily keep on top of most of my day-to-day tasks. I’m guessing that if something major changed, I’d probably need a list again for a while, until I settled into the new routine.

Wow…turning over a new leaf! Congrats!!!!!!! I hope you stay list-free! I’ve been list-free for almost 4 years now, and it’s great. :)

I think I’d perish without my list!

You’re still young! Wait a few years until those brain cells start dwindling away at a far-too rapid pace, or you get married and have children and have to start using what few brain cells you have left to remember all their stuff, or to find the stuff they misplaced, then you’ll have lists all over the place and a calendar on the fridge to boot.

I wish I was brave enough to get rid of my to-do list! I think I would break out in anxious hives if I ever attempted that–I’m so list oriented and task driven that it drives my husband nuts. Maybe I’ll give it a go during the summer when I’m not working. You would think vacations should be list free. . .

    Ronnica’s to-do list:
    1. Buy sticky notes
    2. Begin making to-do lists again

B/c seriously, what’s the point of life if you can’t cross things off??!

In the past I HAD to have a to do list. I don’t know what happened – all of a sudden I realize that I’m not using them either. I think I still care about accomplishing something… I think. Who knows? After the move it seems that I am just not the lady I once was.
