Everyday Life, Questions?
Posted in The Life of the Historian and tagged with Question on April 22, 2009I don’t talk about my life much. I mean, essentially every post is about me, but I rarely talk about the normal stuff. I mean, I know you know that I do something about taxes, I’m single, I recently graduated, and I live in North Carolina though I was raised in Kansas.
I guess the reason I don’t talk about the daily stuff is it’s rather normal and boring. Since I don’t have a husband, I don’t have “look at what he did for me, isn’t it sweet?” or “I can’t believe he said that, I’m so angry” type of posts. I don’t have kids, so I don’t have pages of pictures of ‘em or funny stories to tell, either. I have family, but I don’t live with them, so I mostly keep them to myself. I have a roommate, but I don’t think she’d appreciate me telling about all the funny things she does (okay, there’s not that much anyway, it’s just all the kooky stuff shes puts up with from me!). I have friends, true, but to be honest, I don’t spend as much time with them as I ought. It’s not like I go out partying on the weekends (or ever). They’re very precious to me, but those aren’t things to share with the whole wide world (because everyone is reading my blog)! I myself rarely do anything embarrassing…
Work is fairly normal, too. I deal with a lot of characters, but they’re under the confidentiality agreement. Plus, I don’t want to talk about work too much because I don’t want to get into a situation where I’m at risk of losing my job. I don’t have comical coworkers (there’s only 3 of us), though we do have fun sometimes.
I talk about church, right? That’s where my passion is. And I talk about books, which may seem rather impersonal, but that’s who I am. I spend the bulk of my free time reading (and most of the rest of my free time writing, which you all see). I enjoy politics, but I know not everyone does, so I keep a lot to myself.
So I’m not trying to be secretive by not talking about some of these things, I just don’t find them blogworthy. With that in mind, do you have any questions for me? I’m an open book, so I’ll answer pretty much anything! If it’s too personal, I still might answer it, but via email, or at least share WHY I can’t answer it. So hit me up, asking me your question(s) in the comments!

Everyone has a blog-worthy life!!! But I hear you on not being the “ordinary woman”… with having no children of my own – I feel the same way sometimes.. but the topic of church & God far outcovers ANYTHING ELSE? Right!
So a few questions: How old were you when you came to Christ? What is your favorite childhood memory? What does the perfect life look like to you?…& let’s see… what’s your favorite smell?

I think you should talk about your family–growing up, if nothing else. I enjoy the posts when you do (even more than the “usual” posts, which I thoroughly enjoy!). Maybe it’s because I’m about to be one of you…?

I agree with the comments above, though I can relate with not wanting to blog about every little thing that happens to me in my personal life.
Since you have a bookish kind of blog, I’d love to know what books made an impact on you and why.
What books make you cry? Laugh?

Honestly, this was probably one of the most interesting posts that I have read from you…because it was about you. Thanks! It helps me to have a better idea of who the Ignorant Historian really is.
Oh, and I read that you didn’t really miss blogging after returning from your vacation. I never do either. Funny, isn’t it?

What is your decorating style?
What is your favorite food?
When you were little were you a tomboy or a girlie girl?
Do you listen to talk radio?
Did you go to public school or private school?
Do you recycle? (sorry,it’s earth day so I thought I would throw that in)
Just some random questions. If I think of more I’ll come back.
I like politics, personal opinions and other revelations on blogs. That is what makes them distinctly you. So feel free to put it out there and see where it goes.

I was going to ask about listening to talk radio too or podcasts. My husband has stopped reading as much now that there is podcasting.
How do you like NC?

Have you ever considered taking a risk (or more than one risk) or doing something risky? Or do you always play it safe?

I understand Ronnica. I called my husband on the phone today because I was bored and a little lonely. I had NOTHING to say. Seriously, if it weren’t for talking about blogs and our kids, I would have nothing to bring to the conversation table ever. That bothers me a little bit. We both seem to be in a rut.
Geez Louise, instead of a question I just wrote a comments confession.
Question… how DO you (or anyone for that matter) go about making your life more interesting? How do you get out of a rut? (not exactly selfless questions are they :D )

I really enjoyed the series you did on your school life – back in the day. It was a part of your life and not so personal that you risked offending current friends, family or clients.
I like political posts – it’s always interesting to read how a fellow Christian thinks (’cause, you know we don’t all think the same).
Me thinks you’re a bit more blog-worthy than you’re giving yourself credit for :)

I have a couple questions. #1 – I know you like where you’re living now, but is there another state that you would like to live in someday? #2 – When it comes to friendships, are you are more apt to have many close friends that you are very open with, or do you tend to only have a couple close friends who are your special confidantes?

What, in your opinion, makes up a great friendship?
Is there a fine line between love and hate?
If you had to write a personal statement for winning the Nobel Prize (you pick which category), what would it include?
Do you have a recipe for lasagna? If so, what is it?
