Your wish is my command. First, the great teal-removal of 2009 (if you’re still seeing teal, you may have to dump your temporary internet files). Isn’t the sky blue much more breathable? Now, I’m answering the second most-requested change:
More pictures.
So, without further ado, here was my day:

As I frequently do, I woke up a couple of minutes before my alarm went off. As you can see, though the sun had been up for a couple of hours, my room is sufficiently dark. I love my dark purple curtains!

After getting around, I leave for the office some time between 8:15 and 8:30. Okay, increasingly it’s been between 8:30 and 8:45, but this morning I actually left at 8:20. Yay me! Of course, the reason why I left a little earlier was because I had a breakfast stop to make (that’s Chick-fil-a, for those who are less familiar with their drive-thru). I really have cut back on these types of breakfast stops, but I didn’t have a cold Diet Dr Pepper this morning as it was pouring when I got home last night (didn’t take the time to pull it out of the trunk and put it in the fridge). No cold Diet Dr Pepper means a requisite breakfast stop at the best Diet Dr Pepper tap in town.

Once I arrive at the office, I grab my purse, lunch, and a Diet Dr Pepper out of the trunk for later in the day. I just had to take a picture…this would definitely be “Exhibit A” if anyone was to do a Diet Dr Pepper intervention. When I got home, I actually took out the empty ones and counted them. I had 8 empty boxes and 6 full ones. Yes, I love the stuff.

Another good reason to get in to the office early: I get to take the time to take pictures. This, ladies and gents, is my newly-cleaned desk. I’ve gotten a whole lot more work done now that I don’t having all those papers cluttering up my workspace. It’s probably more mental than anything…I don’t want the tasks piling up any more than I want the papers piling up, so I do them when I get them.

This is What I See All Day
Work today was fairly typical: I spent most of the morning working on a grant proposal and strategizing for the upcoming tax season with my boss. Add in a little filing, phone-talking, and faxing, and it’s time for lunch:

I only allow myself to go out to lunch once a week, and I realized today would be the best day. I was hankering for Mexican, but decided to go a bit healthier (and still delicious) since I already had decided what I would have for dinner.
After lunch, I get back to the office for a mailing project and other odds and ends. Six o’clock comes, and it’s time for the commute home!

No need to adjust your monitors if you can’t see this pic. Our elevators have mirrored doors (a la Legally Blonde), so I thought I’d snap a quick pick of me. The elevator that seems incredibly slow when I have nothing to do is actually very fast when I’m trying to take a picture. After this failed attempt, I didn’t have time to adjust the settings to get a better one!

Before pulling out of our parking lot, I wanted to get a picture of how I look on the ride home while I’m listening to Jane Eyre. Umm, yeah, this picture makes me laugh. You wouldn’t expect me to be grinning while I listen to Mr. Rochester’s pathetic attempt at rationalizing his behavior, would you?
After my 30-minute commute, I’m home to eat, blog, and watch SYTYCD.

Notice my water cup (I only ever use the pink ones for water), the nachos for dinner (good thing I got some nutrients with lunch), and the Lipsmacker (strawberry kiwi this time). Have I ever mentioned that I always have to have it by my side? I joke about Diet Dr Pepper, but I think it would be much harder to live without the Lipsmackers! I bet you can’t guess which is my favorite flavor…

And while I’m still in the blogging/SYTYCD stage of my day, I can assure you what’ll come next: the reading. I did some reading during lunch, but my main reading time is the 10 (often 9) to 11:30 window. And yes, I’m in my PJs. As my roommate can attest, I’m rarely NOT in my PJs when I’m at home. I always start my nightly reading with time in my Bible (I’m in Isaiah and Revelation right now…two heavy books!). I have 5 other categories that I read in, but I’ll probably only hit two tonight, because I’m having a hard time putting down my current fiction selection, In the Name of God.
So, one question. Are you happy now?
Ronnica – thanks for the pictures! Nice to see you and your surroundings! Thanks also for the blue … now if you can do something about the purple that surrounds the comments …. ;)
I know, never satisfied!
@OneMom: Yeah, I know. Actually, I fixed the rest before I realized that I hadn’t fixed that. I will though, I think. It IS a bit bright.
Wait, Chick Fil A serves breakfast? I’m still stuck on this.
I love the blue! :O)
YES!!!
The blue is much better! The purple around the comments is kind of plain though. I loved seeing a day in your life!! I’m kind of surprised you sit in that chair to read. I kind of see you as a couch reader or eve a bed reader. Good job, Ronnica! :-)
I love the new look! the blue, the pictures, everything!
Oh, so happy! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about. Gettin’ personal. LOL! I do love the blue. It’s a little Tarheel-ish, eh? Do you truly get to sleep until 7:30???? Aw man. I am up at 5:45. I haven’t tried breakfast at Chickfila yet. I just can’t imagine eating chicken for breakfast. What I do enjoy are the Jimmy Dean turkey sausage, cheese, & egg white croissants from the grocery store. I just discovered them last week. Deeelish!
I forgot one thing… The Diet Dr. Pepper? Girlfriend, you DEFINITELY need an intervention.
Yes, we’re happy. Thanks for telling us about your day.
I’m a Chickfila addict. But I get sweet tea. There is one way to close to my house.
I can’t believe your trunk that was hilarious.
Wow, and changing your color too. I like it.
♥
Joy
@Kristina: Yessiree! I really like their chicken minis…it’s basically one of their chicken nuggets on a mini sweet roll. Yum yum!
@Smoochiefrog: Thanks, me too!
@Elizabeth: I DO enjoy reading on the couch, but I like it better to read in my room as it’s MY space. Nothing against Dori, though, but when I read I want to be in my own world. (And yes, that’d be another strike against the whole husband and kids thing.)
@Kate: Thanks! The blue’s obviously here to stay (well, until I get tired of it), but hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with the pictures, too.
@Liz: Yes, it is a bit Tarheelish, though I’ve always loved sky blue. Yesterday the sky was a brilliant blue, the trees were, well, green, and the clouds were puffy and white. When/if I redo my layout, I’ll probably do it in green and blue!
Oh, and no, I don’t really need an intervention. Those empties are from a good two months, and the rest is from the great sales they’ve been having lately on the good stuff. I might need some help keeping my trunk clean, though…
Joy: It must be something they put in their drinks! Seriously, one time I went there just for a drink. SO GOOD.
Dropped by from SITS.
Love the photo diary! Good stuff.
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay! Comments are now BLUE!
@Debbie: Thanks!
Love the pictures and the whole day in the life of Ronnica! I am horrified that so many of your readers have never had Chick-Fil-A breakfast though. Even if chicken doesn’t sound good in the morning, the plain biscuits and mini hash browns are great! I’m not even a fast food fan, but there is something about Chick-Fil-A.
I also LOVE SYTYCD. And being in my PJs whenever I am home. :)
@Jenny: I know, it IS rather disturbing.
I knew when I saw your blog that we’d be bloggy soulmates!
I loved seeing your day in pictures! How fun is that! I have to say – I busted out laughing at all the Dr. P in your trunk!!! Only because I can relate with the Diet Coke in mine!!!! Totally can understand your obsession!
And yippe for a night with Nacho’s & SYTYCD …. totally LOVE that show!!!
@Rebecca Jo: It WAS a good night. The only downside is that SYTYCD cuts into my reading time.
That was a fun look at a day in the life! It makes me sad there is no chick-fil-a in Columbia. One good thing about moving to Louisville! I also am digging the sky blue.
YAY! Yes, I am happy now. :-) It was fun to see you daily routine. Although, I am a little jealous that you get to cuddle up in your PJ’s and read for more than half an hour. I haven’t been able to do that lately.
But isn’t a taco salad healthy? I LOVE those things.
And I like the new blue color.
I am THRILLED :) Thank you for the picturs. And I like the softer side of blue – the other didn’t bother me but this really looks better.
I would be so afraid to ask people what I should do different on my blog. My feelings hurt so easily that I am afraid I would wind up in fetal position in front of my computer. You are a brave woman. And an EXCELLENT blogger.
*ahem* pictures. And should it be differently? Was easily correct or should it be easy? I really wish I had your grasp on GRAMMAR.
@Jacki: I suppose a taco salad would be healthy (though I really don’t like them at restaurants, just at home), but I didn’t even want that if I was going to have nachos for dinner!
@Jennifer: Haha, yes, it should be “differently” as it’s modifying “do” a verb
(that’s why “easily” IS correct, it modifies the verb “hurt”).
Adjectives can only modify nouns and pronouns, while adverbs modify
everything else.
Oh, and no critique needed of your blog…you’re hilariously awesome!
(See, I used the -ly because it’s modifying an adjective. ;) )
I love it… thanks so much for sharing your day with us! I totally understand your obsession with Diet Dr Pepper – I used to be hooked until I discovered Coke Zero. Now I’m seriously addicted to that stuff! Yesterday I actually ran out – gasp! – but I have another pack in my fridge so all is good!
Hey thanks for posting on my blog :) Looks like you have a weakness for diet Dr. Pepper too! Oh and I love Chick-fil-a but I haven’t been near one of those in ages!
The items accompanying your dinner look exactly as mine do when I watch TV! Down to the lipsmackers! Except, my cup is always purple, not pink.
@Mikki Roo: I NEVER run out. If I run out of the good stuff, I have to crack the Diet Pepsi (got it because it was cheaper).
@Valerie: How about I eat some for you?
@Rebecca: Pink’s better than purple. ;)
For folks in the northern half of the country, you’d be hard-pressed to find a chick-fil-a. When I lived/worked in SC, I had a boss that would walk down the hall muttering to himself “eat mor chicken”.
Thanks for the blue, very calming.
As for the Dr. Pepper, have never been able to drink it … makes me think of cough medicine.
Regarding finding time to read after adding a husband and child to your life … ha! Finding quiet time to read a regular “grown-up” kind of book and actually remember what you read without interruption is nigh unto impossible (especially with homeschooling). I miss reading.
Now, that was fun! Thanks for sharing your day :)
I love day in the life photo posts. Thanks for bringing me along!
@OneMom: Yeah, I didn’t have Chick-fil-a until college. I liked it okay then, but NOW I love it.
Thanks for sharing. That was fun.
First, I really like the new color. The teal was nice, but a bit harsh on the eyes. The sky blue feels more ‘you’. Of course, so would purple or pink (to match your curtains and your water cup, of course).
Don’t you love Chick Fil A? I find it to be the nicest fast food joint in town. Cleanest, too. And it doesn’t help that it’s a pleasure serving you. That’s a nice touch.
Thanks for a glimpse inside your life. 30 minute commute? Really? No wonder you have books on CD. I would, too!
@Iva: Actually, 30 minutes seems short. Before I moved into Raleigh a year
ago (I was in a suburb of sorts, if Raleigh had suburbs), it was 50
minutes!
Haha…I feel like I was there! Love the photos and the blue. And ofcourse love that you watch SYTYCD. Saw this via Best Posts of the Week. Mine was featured too!
