@Lillie: Yes, much more fun. No chickens around. The eggs actually came from a prison farm somewhere else in the state. I'm just glad that those prisoners are able to give back some to the community!

@G. Zoe: That is sad, but I don't think that minimizes are call to care for the poor in the Bible. I need to do more, that's for sure.

@EmmaP: Scary...another good reason not to drink!

a lady was telling me a different kind of egg story today... she used a glass of rubbing alcohol and an egg to deomstrate what alcohol can do to your brain or even a fetus... when she cracked the egg into the alcohol...it totally started cooking. whoa.

Maybe this is a negative side...I am all for helping those in need and it seems there are more and more. Then there are the takers. Have you noticed yet (I am so much older) all the "repeaters". Are we helping those who never seem to try to help themselves and are just takers? And some are raising children in the same manner, that is all they know. I so enjoy helping others who are in need. I have been there also.

Ronnica,

This post brought back memories of growing up on a farm with 20,000 chickens. :-) We had to gather the eggs, candle (look at the insides using a special light to make sure there was nothing wrong with them), run them through a machine that cleaned and graded and sized them, pack them into cartons, then pack the cartons into cases.

Yuck! Sounds like your venture was more fun than that. :-)
