Hug-a-Lurker Day

free hugToday at the Ignorant Historian, I’m declaring it Hug-a-Lurker Day for 2009 (I celebrated it May 15 last year—I guess this’ll be one of those weird holidays that moves around each year).  Sure, I love comments a lot, but I wanted to give some special recognition to those who stop by my blog, even if you don’t comment.

Of all the blogs I read, there are a few I don’t comment on.  I know!  I don’t start out intending to be silent, but for whatever reason I enjoy reading their blogs, but don’t jump in.  I hope that’s not you, but if it is, it’s okay!  I just hope the reason that you don’t comment is not because you think you’ll be laughed at or feel like you don’t belong.  I might have a loud bark, but I promise I don’t bite!  Though I’ll only ever present my point-of-view in the post, I welcome all points-of-view in the comments.

So, my lovely readers, pick up your free hug at the door, and tell me: who are you?

  1. i’ve been a lurker on just about every blog i’ve read lately. so busy around here. that being said i figured i could come out and tell you i’m here reading even when i don’t comment.

  2. I will never pass on one of your hugs!Reading your writing makes me understand you better. You may not want to hear this from me, but we are alot alike. :)

  3. @Kristina: And I’m so glad I found your blog…you’re hilarious!

    @Jennifer: I wouldn’t say “old news.” Maybe “vintage.” Regardless, you’re always welcome…love the hug/single comment!

    @Emma: Great minds think alike?

    @Sleepy Jane: You’re welcome to it!

    @Natalie: Thanks for reading…I appreciate it, even without comments!

    @Rachel: No problem with not commenting on every post…I certainly don’t. I appreciate the time you take to comment!

    @G. Zoe: Me too.

    @Mom: I’m glad. And yes, I’m more like you than I’d care to admit sometimes. SCARY. =)

    @Jacki: You’re welcome.

    @Darcel: Here’s an extra one, then: (((HUG)))

    @Rebecca: Certainly not, but you’re welcome!

    @Brittany: I know you’re around though, so that counts.

  4. I, Bethany, hereby found guilty of lurking. I found your blog a couple months ago when I was searching for an Oceans Eleven quote. I kept reading because you verbalize a lot of my internal thoughts and have relatively similar lives and values. I like to believe that if we lived near each other, we’d be friends.

  5. @Bethany: Thank you…your comment made me laugh! I love to know who’s reading…and why. That Ocean’s 11 quote is by far the #1 way people get to my site!

    I don’t mind the lurking, but I love when people get involved!

  6. This is the second time I’ve been here, and have commented both times. Not lurking. :) Though I do read previous posts to this one and then comment once. Maybe that counts as lurking…

  7. Thanks for sharing your Thomas Jefferson quip that mirrors the (more graphic, indeed) one I posted. Awesome! I’ll have to lurk around here some. Your site looks very engaging!!

    Thanks for stopping by de-comp! :)

  8. I really needed a hug, thanks! I might not be a lurker, but I do go off into la-la-land from time to time and yet when I do post you always seem to comment. Thanks! I really appreciate it :)

  9. Cute idea! I know I used to comment a lot more often… but I am trying to not spend as much time on the PC and more with the boys! So… even though I’m not leaving comments very often… I am still here and still enjoy you! ;0)

  10. Hi! I’m Francesca. Most of my friends call me Fran. My oldest friends in the world call me Frannie, but that is not something I encourage for the masses. I like long walks on the beach, my pet rock collection, learning everyday, and candlelit dinners for two. Someday, I hope to push Heather Armstrong off of her blog throne.

    I think that’s about it.

    Who are you, Miss Ronnica?

  11. I’m here, I’m here! And I ALWAYS comment. In fact, I’m one of those folks who feels that it’s bad manners NOT to comment. AND (yest, I start a lot of my sentences with contractions, despite my English-teacher training) I believe in leaving a comment worth reading. None of that Yay! I’m Here! Look at Me! vapidness. You’ll always get a few sentences from The Scholastic Scribe, correctamundo?

  12. here….i always read, but almost never comment, despite the fact that I agree wholeheartedly with many of the things you say, especially about being single. i will say that if I am feeling kind of down, or tired, or discouraged, I tend to be a very passive reader/non-commenter.

  13. I’m not a lurker, but I’ve been hiding in my google reader lately and not commenting as much. I’m so glad that you found my blog so that I found yours! :)
    And I could definitely use a hug today – it’s just one of those days.

  14. I stop by and check on your posts in groups, often a week’s worth at a time. You probably don’t even know I’ve been here since I rarely leave a comment. It’s been a long time since I have. Hugs are good!

  15. I never lurk on your blog but I have been absent. I have been MIA all over Blogland. I’ll get better about blog reading when my kids are back in school.

    Hug?
