I had to look up this morning how to fold a simple airplane. I’m such a girl. (It’s part of my lesson at Power Camp tonight.)
Is it normal to always have adventurous dreams? It always seems like me dreams involve some kind of adventure: trying to escape from burglars (or being the burglar myself), going on a trip, or trying to figure out a mystery or crime.
I actually cooked for the first time in months this weekend. Being single, it’s not really worth the effort to do more than throw something together. I think I’m really going to try to make it a weekly thing like I used to, if only to have leftovers to take to work.
Tonight starts Power Camp. I received the names of the children in my huddle yesterday, or at least the ones that have already registered. Thirteen so far, and I only know who 2 of the children are, so most are unaffiliated with our church. Only 3 are girls, too, which I’ve grown accustomed to as that was about the gender breakdown of our Sunday school class this year. I’m excited!
I rarely cook for myself, living on my own. I always find myself with leftover food – and I don’t eat leftovers – so it’s a hassle to create a meal and toss half of it into the trash. Thus I wait for someone to join me to actually cook!
I need a “cooking for one” cookbook to help me out!
I pray that tonight is wonderful!
There are somethings that my husband can do (and that he teaches our kids) that I call “Useless Guy Stuff”. Airplanes folding is part of the list… as well as spinning quarters like a top…. and putting a stack of quarters on his elbow and then catching them…. and making a blade of grass whistle.
And my kids love it.
@MinD: “Cooking for One”…yeah, me too!
@Jennifer: I definitely made them as a kid, but obviously it’s not like riding a bike! I’m glad I took the time to look it up though so I wouldn’t have to freeze up in front of the kids, or, horrors, ask one of them to do it! I think I’d loose street-cred in the 5yos’ eyes if they knew I couldn’t make a paper airplane.
I don’t cook very much at all. It’s sort of the same for only two people. I do love to entertain and cook for a crowd, though.
I have only recently gotten interested in cooking. It has become pretty fun to eat something I’ve made. There’s something to say about satisfaction of a job well done.
Haha I am the worst paper airplane maker in the universe, I think.
The airplanes make me think of when I was a kid…many years ago, my mother made boats out of the Jello paper that was inside the package that held the Jello…it was a little stiffer and waxy, sort of…olden times.
I would always dream of getting lost. The pastor said one time, why did I do that as GOD always knew where I was. That really helped me.
Thinking of you especially tonight. Go get ‘em girl…
I sure did have a good BLT for lunch today…matter of fact, two.
How fun! Can’t wait to hear about the adventure this week. Thank you for investing in the lives of children.

it can also be difficult cooking for two. most recipes are for families. so no matter what stage of life you are in, it seems that the world is not made for you. lol
have fun at power camp!
Have fun!
I wish I enjoyed cooking more. But I hate it.
Hope you have a BLAST with the kids.
I wish I had adventure dreams! Mine usually involve the destruction of the world, sometimes because of something mankind does but more often because of something yours truly accidentally does.
On a good night, I’m in high school, begging my basketball coach to put me in.
Have a great time with the kids!!
I know when I lived on my own, before moving to Denmark, I rarely cooked. I would either make the hours drive to my parents house after work, or talk my fellow single coworkers into going out to eat.
But when I moved to Denmark, where it was too expensive it eat out all the time, and frozen foods was even more expensive, I learned how to cook. :-)
If it were not for Emma’s Celiac, I certainly would have never found my love for cooking.
I’ll bet you have run-of-the-mill boring dreams, too, you just don’t remember them. Most of mine seem to be high adventure, but sometimes I will have flashes of everyday ones, too.
A girlfriend of mine, who is single, spends all day Saturday or Sunday cooking for herself for the whole week. She then freezes it and warms it up over the week. That way she can have fun, more elaborate dishes. I never did that, but I wish that I had.
