After last year’s hit bathroom discussion (you may think I’m joking, but it was one of the most commented posts ever on my blog), I just had to bring you the sequel.
The following pictures are from my new office’s bathroom. As you’ll see, it’s quite a bit brighter and smaller.
When I walked into the office with my phone in hand (yay for cameraphones…it makes my covert operation less obvious!), I about ran into a lady walking out. I jumped, too…I don’t think I could be a character in any of the spy/thief movies I so enjoy!
So, as you walk into the bathroom, you see this large-ish anteroom. It’s the size of a standard bedroom, and at least twice as big as the actual bathroom. I’m not sure if this is how it was originally designed, but it doesn’t really make sense today. There’s not even a chair or anything, so it’s really a useless room (not that I want to sit in the bathroom, anyway).
I had a hard time taken a picture of the whole bathroom just because it’s so small. This was my best attempt.
And these are the sinks. I never thought I’d say this, but they’re actually too short for me. I can’t imagine what it’d be like if you were actually normal height (I’m only 5’3″).
And these are the lovely tile floors. They just look so cold to me.
So, that’s the tour of the office bathroom. It’s actually used more than the one at our old place, though this one only has 2 stalls versus 5. The other day I actually had to wait for a toilet!
That first room doesn’t make sense whatsoever. It would if you had a couch and a chair, to lounge in the bathroom, not that many people would want to do that!
I used to clean commercial bathrooms as a side job before I got pregnant with Alex. And those looked a lot like one building I did, except those are bright colors, The bathroom I did was ugly tan and yellow… I’m glad I don’t do that job anymore, it was gross what some people did in bathrooms!
I’m with Veronica. Put a big couch in that first room where you could take a nap on your lunch hour! Of course, if it’s wide open to the stalls, that might not be very pleasant! lol
Goodmorning FGD…remember some things need to be made to handicap specs…hence that may be the reason for the low sinks. Clean, clean, clean, that is what I like in a bathroom. The bathroom…first place I look for when I go to a new place…ha.
You are only 5’3? You sound so much taller on your blog :)
The blue is sort of soothing though. The extra room leaves me puzzled. If it’s an old building I guess it could be a smokers lounge?
Have a great week!
I am never sure about sitting areas in bathrooms. That is just not where I want to relax!
Does have a retro feel to it. It’s clean and not as vanilla as your last bathroom.
hmmmm we’ve got to think of an idea for that open weird room.

G. Zoe: Maybe. Though the “handicapped” stall is only a regular stall with handrails…clearly, it was retrofitted.
Jennifer: Thanks. =) Maybe it’s a smoker’s lounge…who knows.
Debbie: There was one in the women’s bathroom in our college ministry building. Our small group would meet in there because we knew we had privacy from the boys…it really did help us open up!
Joy: No, it’s definitely chocolate. (This is the second day that it smells like chocolate-chip cookies…I think it’s a spray someone’s spraying after they do their business.) Cleanliness is an illusion though…the other one was always much cleaner than this one (probably because it was used less). I preferred the darker, cleaner, open-er bathroom of the other place.
So funny, because when you were posting about the office move the thought actually crossed my mind about the bathroom post. Then you go and give us the bathroom tour…that’s just a little weird.
Bathroom photos…such a strange request.
You bring up such an excellent point…does anyone ever really sit in the couches and chairs that are in bathroom anterooms? The one time I ever saw one at a workplace utilized, someone was asleep on the couch (probably sick) and was mocked for it. If it’s a bathroom in a public place, maybe for breastfeeding, but…??
