As I’m writing this on the 2nd, I just realized that the Friday I’m in Turkey is Friday the 13th. I have no idea if Turks have superstitions around this day or not. Something to learn, right?
Anyway, today is our last full day in Turkey. I don’t know for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if today’s the day we go to the market for souvenirs and the like. It’s also a great time to experience Turkish culture as shopping in the market is more traditional than in a mall or supermarket (though they have those, too). Shop keepers often have the best English (and know many other languages…I actually saw a show advertising they spoke 6 or 7 languages including Catalan) as they find it useful to sell their wares. Shopping in these environments is often more conversational, so pray those conversations will be fruitful.
Pray that as we say our goodbyes tonight they will be sweet and encouraging, leaving all with a greater resolve to work towards the tasks at hand with faith. We will be leaving early in the morning tomorrow (our time, which would be shortly after midnight Eastern Friday night), so we don’t have much time left!
SAFE TRIP HOME
Aw! Your time there really flew by! I can’t wait to hear more once you are state side. And of course, I can’t wait to hear about the shopping trip.
Praying for your safety as you travel Ronnica.
