4 is More!
Posted in Dusting the Historian's Library and tagged with Blogness, Lists, Me on May 18, 2010Today this little ol’ blog turns 4!
On this date in 2006, I decided to jump from the online journaling format of Xanga for an all-out blog on blogspot, Tale of a Kansas Girl. Then a year-and-a-half ago, I decided to go out on my own and adopt a more grownup name, “The Ignorant Historian.”
And here’s where I am, 900-and-something posts later. Still kicking, and in many ways a better person because of blogging. I hope to never give it up, though I will if I feel like that’s what God’s leading me to do. I’m sure it’ll continue to grow along with me, but that’s a good thing.
So, this blog in 4s:
4 biggest bloggy blessings:
That anyone I was related to or know in real life would want to read this blog
That anyone (not to mention many more than one!) who is not related to me would want to read this blog
That I’ve been encouraged–and challenged–in my beliefs
Comments – all of them
4 biggest disappointments:
That I’m not a household name yet (okay, maybe I don’t want to be *that* big)
That I haven’t had more of an impact for the Kingdom
That my writing still has a long way to go before it’s where I want it to be
That I can’t think of a 4th disappointment (oops, just did)

Wow! You’ve been very thorough with this post. It must have been quite an effort putting it together.
Congratulations on the 4th blogiversary. I always enjoy dropping in to read your posts. (Though it looks like I need to visit more to put Australia on the top of the visitors list.)
I’m amazed at the amount of comments some of your posts achieve. Well done.
I added Intentionally Illiterate to StumbleUpon so I’ll pretend that I had a hand to play in getting some of those comments. :)

You’re a household name in my world :)
And you probably will NEVER know the impact you make in the Kingdom until the day you stand before God! Then you’ll see how important your words are! :)
Congrats on 4 years… Looking forward to 4 more!

Happy Blog Birthday!!
I’m from PA, but I just started reading you.
It seems like a lot of people got their blogging start on Xanga lol

Rodney: Yeah, I’ve been working on this for months. Well, a little at a time, but over several months.
Lillie: Well, as a friend told me last night, she doesn’t think the Wordless Wednesdays and the Six Word Saturdays should count, so if you took those out, we’d be about even!
Veronica: Me, too! Yay for new bloggy friends! (that goes for you, too, Megan and LaNeshe!)
Megan: That’s kinda surprising, because I know I have several readers from VA. Maybe it wasn’t your week when I pulled those stats.
Liz: Only about 10-15% of my visitors leave a comment, if that puts things in perspective. It’s taken me 4 years to get where I am now!
Rebecca Jo: LOL Good to know.
LaNeshe: Ooh, good! Those location stats only cover a short period, so it was probably you (and others, I’m sure). Glad to know that I have a reader in PA!

In the theme of 4s, I just saw that I’ve now have 400 different tags. Awesome!
Jenny: Thanks! I’ve been looking forward to it for months (just like a 4yo!).
Genevieve: It’s nice to put it all in a box like that.

Four years is a huge accomplishment. I’m only looking at 1 and a half and it seems LONGGGGGGG!!!! I love how you broke everything down. What a great idea and way to celebrate. I’m still shocked that ANYONE shows up at my place! Congratulations to you and for being authentic. Blessings on the next four!

Happy blogoversary! 4 years is quite amazing in the blogging world. You are on the cutting edge my friend. I’ve been blogging for about a year and half and some days I feel as though I don’t really have anything more to say. Maybe these things go in cycles. Over the past 4 years have you noticed your blogging frequency waxing and waning? Just curious.

Good for your 4 years! I think you’re doing way better than I am at 4 years. (I don’t actually know how long I’ve been blogging.) Maybe one day you will become a household name.

I like the number four…it’s the number of children I’ve been blessed with here on earth.
I enjoy reading (on my google reader) even when I don’t get by to comment. I appreciate and respect your viewpoints on being single and how to do it well (even though I’m not so sure I put it well), and pray that your wishes come to fruition soon.
Congratulations on four years!

Robynn: Well, it does kinda seem long. I can’t remember not blogging.
Amanda: I categorize EVERYTHING. =)
Pam: (reminding myself which is which…) Waxing. The first year and a half I blogged only once a week. Thanks to NaBloPoMo in 2007, I started blogging even more. Now I blog regularly 5-7 times a week, and have only taken a couple of short bloggy breaks. My to-blog list grows faster than I can blog! I would have thought it would have been the other way around.
Liz: I do have a good kind of name to be a household name, dontcha think?
Joanne: Awesome, thanks!

Now all we need to do is increase the number of male readers and commenters. My gender is hopelessly under represented here. They don’t know what they’re missing.

Happy birthday, blog! You do a great job with your writing and are very thoughtful and insightful. You are one of the wiser people that I know and I think one of the main reasons is that you can state your opinion (and the Truth) in love. So, thank you!

Elizabeth: Awesome! Thanks!
Rodney: Yeah, you guys are DEFINITELY out numbered. And the “don’t know what they’re missing” might also explain why I’m still single…
Vicki: That means a lot. I try…it definitely takes a lot of editing to get the more controversial posts just right!
Kathleen: Thanks!

Happy blog birthday! Interesting to read all those stats!
I think “That my writing still has a long way to go before it’s where I want it to be” is a good thing because it’s when you reach perfection that things go wrong. Everytime I think I’m proud of something I’ve written I make sure next time I try even harder, that way you’re content but always improving.
