Hug-a-Lurker Day 2010

This is a holiday that I’ve celebrated the last 2 years (and not on the same dates any of the years…it’s just one of those holidays)…and it’s about time for it again!

While some blogs don’t seem to like lurkers (someone who regularly reads a blog but never comments), I welcome them.  Sure, I love comments and would love for all my readers and stopp-er-by-ers to comment when they want to, but I recognize not all blog readers are commenters.

I want to invite you to let me know you’re here by commenting on this post, whether you’re a long-time commenter, new blog friend, or lurker.  You can tell me as much/little about yourself as you feel comfortable with, but I want to recognize your readership, whether you comment or not!

I’m a regular reader and always look forward to new posts.

Great initiative. I may have to steal the idea for my blog sometime. :)

I’ve only recently become a reader/commenter/lurker. I enjoy your posts, and look forward to more!

Having only just posted a similar post myself it would be bad of me to not speak up here. Like Veronica I’ve not been reading your blog long (I read a few posts a year or so ago and it took me that long to find your blog again because I forgot the address) but I like the variety of subjects you cover :)

Hi! I sort of half lurk on your blog. I read it nearly everyday, but I only feel comfortable commenting when I have something to say. This Lurker Day thing is a cool idea!

Hi! This is a cool idea :) I’m a new follower amd I’ve checked out a few of your posts before from Twitter! I’m pretty new to the bloggging world. I just started my own blog around a month ago, so I’m constantly changing and learning things! I have really enjoy meeting new people and learning about them through their blogs. Your blog is neat, and different from most of the other ones I follow, so your perspective is refreshing! Thanks for sharing your stuff :)

I’ve commented a few times, but I read your blog regularly since it’s on my google reader :)

I kind of want to celebrate one of these holidays, but I always have this fear in the back of my mind that no one will comment and I’ll look like a loser, lol.

    Thanks, all!

Charlie: Thanks, that makes my day! I always worry that people aren’t going to like my blog because I’m all over.

Cammy: You’re not a lurker, you DO comment. =)

D: Aww, thanks! I promise, I didn’t do this for compliments!

    Claire Suzanne: Thanks!

    Heather: Have some faith…I’ll comment!

Novel idea!! Love it. I’m coming over from the blogfrog discussion you commented on. Thanks for your insights. So nice to not feel so alone.

I enjoy your blog as well and read more than I comment

  13. Ronnica Says:

Cate: How can I forget my favorite peeping…uh, Cate?

Jessica: Yeah, but you also “comment” in real life. =)

  14. GZOE Says:

You know I have followed you all your life…you are the one who gave me the name GZOE…At least this way I kind of know what you are doing…although a letter once in a while would be nice…

  15. Liz Says:

    Hey! It’s Liz here.

What a great idea…hug a lurker day. I know from my own stats that I have more lurkers than commenters for most of my posts. I tend to lurk more when I am too busy to comment and skim a post and comment when I have more time but I am here too!

Hello from sunny AZ! I recently stumbled upon your blog and I particularly enjoy your quote-filled posts. :)

I like groundhogs. Wait, let me clarify that – I LOVE groundhogs. I attended Civil War camp when I was little and to this day feel superior to other people who attended not-as-cool camps, like those dorks at Revolutionary War camp. I’m currently reading a Rolling Stone that someone left in my office and am trying to finish my blog reading before returning to it. I can’t tell if people hate the book & theatre show reviews I do on Best of Fates b/c my comments always drop significantly. Alpha Bits is my favorite breakfast food. And by breakfast food, I mean food I snack on all day long, wherever I am.

And I’m not a lurker. But I just can’t stop myself from sharing.

Sometimes when my blog is feeling lonely I go onto SITS and open every blog with a picture, and if I can find something interesting, I comment. That way no one else has to feel like a lonely blogger. My “stats” say I get 20 reads a day, but when you get >1 comment on average, it’s a little hard to believe! lol.

Thanks for stopping by and commiserating with me. Good luck with your move!

  21. Ronnica Says:

Stephanie: Glad to hear! I do those mostly for myself, but glad that someone else likes them, too.

    Megan: lol Love your “sharing.”

Jessica: Yeah, definitely a lot more views than comments…but I enjoy all my readers!

  22. Melissa Says:

New Here! And I only hope to have lurkers! Honestly, I unknowingly having readers is when I think I’ll really have made it ;)

  23. Ronnica Says:

Melissa: Welcome! Well, it is always pleasing to see/hear who’s reading!

  24. Tatersmama Says:

I’m returning the visit, (you recently commented on my blog – thru Roynn’s Ravings I believe) and I want you to know that I’ll be back, for sure!
I love to find new blogs to read, and I love to read comments… but sometimes due to time constraints, I just have time for a quick read and little time for commenting.
I kind of like to think that other people deal with the same problem, but truth is, they probably get bored with my drivel… lol!

So, I guess depending on the day, and how busy my day or week is, (I’m a child care educator and foster carer), I can be a reader/commenter/lurker!

  25. Ronnica Says:

    Tatersmama: Welcome!
