Moving Moving Moving Weekend

The move in bullets:

  • I love that the word “moving” can mean many different things.
  • Six vehicles and six adults make for quick work – everything was moved in an hour and a half (especially when you add in two capable boys).  Love that my church family loves me (and I love them!).
  • Most of that work was not done by me or my roommate (and yes, she’d readily admit that).
  • I was so tired Sunday (after having a bad night of sleep before the move and then all of the moving/unpacking) that I tried putting on a shirt that was still on the hanger.
  • The highlight of my weekend was learning that my reading chair in fact does fit comfortably in my bedroom (as illustrated below).
  • I LOVE my pretty blue room!

The move in pictures (okay, just my new  bedroom and bathroom):

The view as you enter my room:

Those our blackout curtains behind the fluffy pretty ones:

And my bathroom (which my roommate decorated, but I really like!).  I love how it downplays that yellow…the same yellow that was in my bedroom before we agreed to paint it the pretty blue:

  1. Angela: Thanks! This isn’t my original reading chair, but I traded my roommate my ugly blue one for her pretty white one.

Veronica: I’m a big blue fan, too. I just look around my room and grin.

Cheryl: It was my AWANA shirt, too!

ClaireSuzanne: I’ve never painted. This was done by a friend. I don’t think my roommate would have let me paint myself, anyway (she knows my giftedness doesn’t extend into the physical realm).

    Cammy: It is!

  2. FGD…So good to see your new surroundings…how about a picture of the outside??? I am a GZoe blue person too…you are more pale…that is okay…so nice to have a reading chair. Surprised at your brown bathroom…like brown. I LOVED the SUNFLOWER picture on your wall…
    Blessings..
    May angels be with you.

  3. G. Zoe: I’m not sure I’ll blog outside pictures and living room pictures, but I will email them if I don’t. Waiting until this weekend to take them.

I tried to get pictures that meant something to me, and of course, sunflowers remind me of Kansas and you! I still need to replace a couple more pictures, but I’ll probably share the significance of them soon!

  4. Great minds . . . ? Our downstairs bedroom is the same shade of blue and I also decorated with black and white. I think it looks classy, LOVELY and cozy. LOVE your room! (And your bedspread.)

Congrats on getting moved in! I bet that’s a relief to get that settled out. Blessings on your new home and your’s and your roommate’s relationship.

  5. I LOVE your room AND your bathroom….I think I like your bathroom best though…lol. I’ve always wanted a warm, nicely decorated bathroom. We’ve never actually had one. I’m so glad move in day went well and you had pretty good weather and a lot of help :-)

  6. Looks fabulous! I love the blue. That reading chair could make a GREAT baby rocker some day… I’m just saying.

  7. Iva: I know!

Carrie: I had actually just planned on using white with the blue, but I already had those expensive black frames, so I went with it. It looks better than I’d have expected.

Meg: When I first got a reading chair, I was super excited!

Liz: It’s nothing that I ever would have picked out, but starting with yellow, it’s definitely the best that I could imagine. I *love* brown so I enjoy it a lot.

Erin: HAHA I’ll keep that in mind. Hopefully sooner rather than later, right? (uhh, but not *too* soon)

  8. I love it… first of all, your room matches your blog with all the blue!!! :) But it looks so cozy…. I’d be in the glider all the time with a book myself!

  9. Couple things: Ha.Yeah I’ve been that tired (still chuckling about the hanger in the shirt; Dont you just love church family? We moved in like 2hrs because we had so many people helping out and lastly, I like that bathroom and I aint usually a fan of yellow. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. You have a beautiful place to call home – so peaceful and relaxing. Hope wonderful things happen for you there and many hours of wonderful reading!

  11. Kristy: I really considered not getting them, but you’re right, they’re necessary. Blocks out the light, street sounds, and heat? Awesome!

Natalie: I love colors, but tend to repeat them a lot. It’ll be interesting to see how I decorate my first house.

Rebecca Jo: So true! And my old blog design matched my old room design.

Jen: Oh my…is that my ROOMMATE commenting?!?!

Jessica: Well, I did kinda cheat by moving things over slowly over the last week or so. Plus, helped that I had use of the spare bedrooom to keep the boxes until I was ready to unpack them (there are still a couple of things left).

    Angelica: Popular weekend to move!

    Kristin: Thanks, me too!

  12. I love that color! You are a great decorator. :-)

I have a shower curtain very similar to yours. It might be the same one. I need to go home and look at it, but it’s very close to that color and striped like that …

It’s in the downstairs bathroom we don’t use much, so it’s hard to remember it!
