Upcoming at the Ignorant Historian

I’m less than 30 comments away from 10,000 comments. I can’t thank you all enough.

I’m less than 10 posts away from my 1,000th post. There WILL be something big and never-been-done-before here on the Ignorant Historian on that day. Stop by Tuesday or Wednesday next week (which day depends on whether I post quotes this coming Sunday or not)…I promise that you do NOT want to miss it.

This fall, I’ll be helping to lead a book discussion over on Offering Hospitality. The book? Women’s Ministry in the Local Church by J. Ligon Duncan and Susan Hunt. I’m looking forward to this opportunity. Want to join the discussion of the book? That’s easy enough…enter to win it!  The contest will be open until Sunday, August 15th.

Now that school is starting (I’m not a teacher or student, but I still think in school years), I hope to bring some more thought-provoking posts here to the Ignorant Historian.  They’re rolling around in my head, I just have to let them out!

On that note, what’s your favorite school supply to shop for?

    Ronnica,

That’s a lot of posts and a lot of comments! Congratulations in advance.

  2. GZoe Says:

I always get your mother some pencils…
Keep pursuing (is that spelled correctly?)

  3. Rebecca Jo Says:

I love all school supplies… always have! Love buying new pens & note pads & folders… I’m a office supply geek!

  4. Cheryl Says:

I do not discriminate against school supplies…I love them ALL! That said, anything with lots of slots or pockets or compartments for organizing draws me in like a magnet!

  5. Ronnica Says:

Lillie: Thanks! The number of posts doesn’t seem huge to me, but the comments do. Have people really stopped by almost 10,000 times and actually said something? Crazy!

Rebecca Jo: Oh, me too. I suppose if I were to answer my question, I’d say that crayons (which I pronounce “crowns” to the chagrin of my students) excite me the most…I buy a box every year even though I don’t use them much!

Cheryl: Ha! Anything organizational screams at me in the store. And then I think about how I could(n’t) use it and don’t buy it, but I know what you mean!

Though I rarely have any need to do so anymore (I’ve got scads of them) — pencils. I love the smell.

  7. Ronnica Says:

Elizabeth: Pencils do smell good, but not as good as crayons!

I’m close to 1,000 posts but I can’t remember how close. (I should go look…) It’s a BIG milestone and I”ll be looking forward to your post about it! =D And add this comment to your pile. That’s a pretty awesome number also! WOW!

Glad you are “in” on discussing the book with us over at Offering Hospitality! =D

Wow, you should be very happy with yourself as a blogger. That is quite a lot to accomplish!
Hmmm, I love all school supplies. My favorite are probably new glue sticks and blue pens, oh and fresh notebooks.

  11. Mindy Says:

Congrats on the accomplishments. 1,000 posts isn’t easy, nor so many comments. Big kudos lady!

…I’m heading back to grad school in a few weeks and needed to buy a new laptop. Best “school supply” to purchase ever!

Congrats on reaching such wonderful blogging milestones!

Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the big day!

Mmm…crayons. I’ve always wondered why VW vehicles tend to smell like them. It’s true, they do!

I think we should all get cupcakes! :P

  15. Liz Says:

I think I like notebooks the best. Something about all those blank pages waiting to be filled up with writing.

  16. Ronnica Says:

Mindy: Oh, a laptop is DEFINITELY a cool thing to *have* to get.

Elizabeth: Really? I’ve only been in one, and I don’t remember that. Will have to pay attention if I ever get in one again.

Angelica: Ha, that’d be cool! I’m afraid my budget wouldn’t quite allow that. Unless I just make them from a box and make you all come and get them.

Liz: That’s what I love about journals. I have more than I can fill up for quite some time…really need to get back to regularly journaling. Did so last night for the first time in 6 weeks!

  17. Carolyn Says:

It`s all about the paper and pens for me. Love them!

I just popped over from SITS to say hi & have a great day!

  18. Carolyn Says:

Shoot, that sent before I got my blog addy on there for you… Oh, well, that`s one more comment, right?

  19. Ronnica Says:

Carolyn: Paper is great, until you cut yourself! I do like journals though. Glad you realized you forgot your URL otherwise I couldn’t visit ya!

  20. Sara R-The Millennial Housewife Says:

Stopping by from 31DBBB challenge. My fave school supply to shop for is probably backpacks and crayons! Why crayons? I love to see them for $0.19 at our local stores! I just can’t resist buying them. Plus – we use a lot of crayons here so it’s not like they go to waste!
