The Ignorant Historian

The Ignorant Historian

Welcome to the Ignorant Historian, Ronnica’s blog!  This is life told by “a partial, prejudiced, and ignorant historian” (Jane Austen).  Everything I write is partial, prejudiced, and when I get right down to it, ignorant.  Though I struggle to admit that sometimes.

Hello, my name is Ronnica, and I’m the Ignorant Historian.  *shakes hand* (Really, online introductions are kinda silly.)  I’ve been blogging for 4 years about life, books, faith, and humor.  I’m a Christian, single, book-loving 27-year-old woman making my way in Raleigh, North Carolina (though my Kansas roots often show).

While I’m unintentionally single, I love children and hope to be married someday, though I want to be content exactly where God has placed me.  While I have a degree in history and a Masters of Divinity, I work as a financial counselor for a non-profit.  While I love to talk about literature, I hope to be a math teacher one day.  Yes, my interests are diverse.

I find joy in serving in my church by working with the 5th and 6th grade Sunday school class.  I’m still learning what it means to be a Christian who is an introvert, and how I should relate to my church family.

I write about everything from my personal faith and the application thereof to my detestation of the color orange and the misuse of sprinkles.

I also love quotes, and have started a site devoted to quotes and pictures which I update daily.

  1. Hello,
After I read your comment on my blog, I flew over here to take a look at your blog.
Well! Now you are 26? I found 26 a bitter pill to swallow because all of a sudden, 30 is staring at you in your face. Yikes!

You are very young to realize how “ignorant” you are. Most people float through life thinking they know everything. I didn’t admit to my own ignorance until I hit my 40′s. That was when I sat up and said, “The longer I live, the Less I know”.

    Very nice meeting you Ronnica.
BTW, what kind of history did you study? And are you thinking of going back to school (ack)?

  2. Chris: Uhh, I’m actually 27! (Funny thing is, as I read half your comment before I realized, “Hey wait, I’m 27!”). Guess it took me 3 1/2 months to change this…

Thanks for the comment…I’m still learning how much I DON’T know!

  3. Lovely to meet you.

And you are by far so much more mature than I was at your age.

You are going to be a phenomenal woman as you grow into your skin.

  4. Came for a visit via blogtrotting.Chris and Ronnica, you guys have not lived until you hit the big 50 as I did 8 years ago.you youngens!Over at blogtrotting is said to recomend a book. This book may be out of print but it is facinating at least I think so.U-505 my Daniel Gallery. It is about the last enemy warship that was captured on the high seas during a war.the previous ship was captured during the war of 1812.The U-505 is a part of the Science and Industry Museum in Chicago.

  5. Ronnica –

I was just reading comments from Day 18 (achoo!) and popped over again. I like the way you’ve got these pages as subs under the About Me page… That way the top’s not getting cluttered, and you can expand on all those different areas. Brilliant. I’ll be keeping this in mind as I work on both my blogs… Thanks!

  6. Single, Christian too. Much much older than you. Enjoy the single years. They probably won’t last much longer as you are intelligent, witty, and pretty.

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Based on your “about the historian” page, it sounds like we are quite similar: introvert Christian, single, book loving! I’m looking forward to going through some of your achives!

  8. I am not much of a history person but my older son is. He has agreed to do a monthly book review for my website based on a children’s history book. We will call it “Matt’s Monthly History Moment”.
Would love to hear any suggestions you might have. I am looking forward to reading the one about the Greensboro Sit-In which was suggested by the Cybils.
