And I’m 29

This is from my 18th birthday. Clearly, the candles were a bit smoky!

Today is my 29th birthday! In some ways, I feel like a kid still, but in others I feel like I’ve been an adult forever.

I enjoyed being 28, but it was definitely a crazy year. I have no idea what to expect for 29, but it’s bound to be another of change as I get used to a new job (one that I hope to start soon!) and schedule. Plus, I’ll officially become an author this year! I definitely plan on taking advantage of this last year of my 20s.

Chopped It All Off

When I moved to North Carolina 6 years ago, my hair was short, bob-length. At that point, I was already starting to grow it out, and it’s been long for most of the time since (hey, my hair grows very slowly…).

But for the last couple of months, it has been really bugging me. Constantly throwing it up during this extra-hot summer while I work out has made it very tangle-y. Plus, my hair has been falling out at an alarming rate (not exactly sure why). This is especially gross considering its length.

So, I decided to chop it all off. Here is the result:

And from the back:

All told, 11 inches was chopped off. Here is what I was able to donate to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths. And yes, my hair really is that thin (always has been…that’s not just the result of the recent hair loss!). My ponytail was about as thick as a nickel.

It’s a Niece!

When I found out I was having a niece, I immediately went on a shopping spree. I’ve been holding back for two months!

Notice that there’s only a hint of pink (at the mother’s request). I’m sure she’ll get pink clothes from others!

My favorite (on the left), and the one I’m sure will be my sister-in-law’s favorite (on the right): “My mom doesn’t want your advice.”
