FQF: Hermitess, Freedoms, and Cheese

1.  Ever think about moving to Alaska to live as a hermit?

If I moved somewhere to be a hermit, it most certainly wouldn’t be Alaska. Arizona, probably.

2.  For all the freedoms that people in the United States enjoy what are some of the ways that these people oppress themselves willingly and why?

Well, I mentioned a big one yesterday. Anything else that you can think of?

3.  When was the last time you were up all night?

When I was traveling to Turkey, I think.

4.  How would you like to die?

Besides the cliché “in my sleep,” I’d go for anything instantaneous.

5.  Finish the words:

Ch: cheese
An: Anglican
Ge: geek
So: social
Ne: next
Bo: boo (though I accidentally typed it “book”)
Wi: William
E: empty

Summer To-Do and a Million Dollar Question

1. What’s on your “to do” list this summer?

Moving, for one thing (and the accompanying ”getting settled”).  I don’t really have “summer” plans other than that, since I don’t segment my life so much like this anymore.  I’d like to get back in to regular exercise and eating at home, but I’m already starting to work on that.

2.  Do you enjoy sleeping late?

Most definitely.  Though “late” has changed from what it was when I was a teenager or a college student.  9 AM is the latest I ever want to sleep in

3. Fill in the blank: Life is __________.

A beautiful, wonderful, sometimes painful gift.

4. What is in your refrigerator right now?

As of writing this (April 23rd), a few condiments (mainly salad dressings), milk, eggs, onion, tortillas, lots of cheese (don’t ever want to run out), and some leftovers (taco soup and breakfast casserole).  I think that’s all that’s mine.  Haven’t done my weekly shopping yet to get fruits and veggies.

5. If you received $1 million (after taxes), what would you do with the money?

Pay off my student loan, buy a medium-sized house and furnish it modestly, and give some to friends.  Give at least 200K of it to my church, and then invest the rest.

Is It Bedtime Yet?

I do funny things when I’m tired. I have crazy dreams about being in terrorist attacks and stress about random nonsensical details.
Though I don’t remember any of my dreams from last night, I did do some crazy things when I was “awake” (though that term hardly qualifies). I woke up at some point stuffed up, so I decided to turn on the humidifier I have next to my bed. Except I didn’t turn it on, I turned on my lamp which is also right by my bed (but has a completely different switch). I thought I was going to blind myself (since I never turn my light on after I’ve fallen asleep, this was quite the shock).
When my alarm went off at 6, I just rolled over without getting up to shut it off and attempted to go back to sleep before I realized what had woken me up. I wonder how long I would have been able to sleep with a blaring alarm clock (it’s very persistent and won’t give up)?
Are you tired today as well? What types of things do you find yourself doing when you aren’t fully awake?
Here’s to sweet dreams tonight for one and all!

My Trusty/Crusty Brain

I’m an organized person. I am almost always on time (which means early), having completed all required tasks/assignments. I follow through with what I have said I will do. I know my schedule for the next week, sometimes month, and can recite it off to you included precise times and locations. I use a PDA primarily to store directions and other important information while keeping it handy.

Though those are my tendencies, I have certainly started to break down in my old age, or at least my lack of sleep in the last week has caught up to me.
While I was in the bathroom during our break from class, a classmate asked me if I was going tonight to our church’s January Bible conference. I told her that I couldn’t, since I was working child care for the New Students’ Orientation (which she is helping to run).
After a mild panic, she reminded me that that isn’t until next week. Of course, this makes sense since school doesn’t start ’til next week, but I apparently forgot that in my mixed-up mind.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself. Maybe I should rely more on my PDA rather than on my trusty/crusty brain.

Name Your Distraction

I’ve been so distracted today. I’m glad that it is Friday. As much as I’ve loved my J-term class, I need the weekend to regroup and complete reading and an assignment in order to be prepared for a whole ‘nother week of class. I’m SO sleeping in tomorrow, if only for a couple of hours!
Last night I was pretty distracted too. I decided to come up with a list of the top distractions that I had while reading for class.
Top 7 Distractions while Attempting to Do Assigned Reading
7. Toe nails – I glanced down and saw that my toe nails needed clipping. You wouldn’t expect me to put this off a moment longer, would you?
6. Presidential debate – I knew that there was a debate on last night, and even though I couldn’t watch it, I had to find out how everyone did.
5. A recently completed set of Gilmore Girls – Ah, I just love the wit of these characters. So funny!
4. Baby crying – No, I don’t have a baby (nor do my roommates, interestingly enough), but one lives in the bedroom directly below mine. She normally doesn’t bother me (except when we first moved in and I couldn’t tell what her lullaby-thingy was…I though it was someone tinkering around on a keyboard at first since it was so slow), but this last week she has been crying a lot in the 8-10 PM window. Unfortunately, this is my best studying time.
3. The nibbles – I just had to get up and grab some leftover chocolate chips to munch on. Since I was eating chocolate chips, I had to get a cup of water. Then…(if you give a Ronnica a chocolate chip…)
2. Blogs – “I just have to check on the blog. So-and-so is holding a contest? I have to enter now, not later!”
1. Not enough sleep – “Your eyes are getting very sleepy…” This is what ultimately ended the night for me.
