The Historian’s Writing

Rather than bore you with posts about the progress of my writing (hey, you deal with my writing every day, why would you want to read about my writing?), I thought I’d just use a page to keep track of my progress.  Even if no one cares to read this, it’ll be a good place for me to keep track of what I’m doing.

11/30/2011 I’ve been working hard this week to get The Journal ready for publication December 26th!

3/31/2011 Finished the preliminary outline of my first non-fiction book. Today I started writing What about Emotions (definitely a working title!).

3/25/2011 Started brainstorming on a non-fiction topic. Working title to come…I have to work on it. ;)

3/22/2011 Completed the second draft of what I now know is entitled The Journal (the 2nd one never existed). Sent copies to a few people to edit…scary!

11/23/2010 Finished Two Journals.  Can’t believe I have a complete first draft.  Next step: editing, though I plan on waiting a month before I tackle it.  In the meantime, I’ll be starting Four Friends again, keeping a few characters and the concept, but redoing it.

11/6/2o10 I may have gone a little crazy today, after hosting a sleepover for my church girls last night.  Now at 20,206 words.  That means that I’m way ahead of schedule and it feels good.

11/5/2010 Didn’t write much more than the NaNoWriMo goal, but now at 13,971 words.  Found a surprising plot twist that I wasn’t expecting in the least.  Think it’s just what I’ve been missing, though.

11/4/2010 Now at 12,241 words on Two Journals.  This is officially the most I’ve written towards one novel, or really, one idea (fiction or non-fiction).

11/3/2010 8,200 words of Two Journals.  Met my NaNo obligations, though didn’t write as much as I’d like.  I had to do some research, watching the first hour and a half of the CNN reporting on September 11th.  Never saw it, as I didn’t get to a TV until at least 10:30 Central that morning.  Brought back a lot of emotions (just like reading my journals last night did).

11/2/2010 Now at 6,468 words on Two Journals.  Very happy with my progress.  And I’m falling in love with this story…

11/1/2010 Started NaNoWriMo and wrote 3,105 words on Two Journals (to get to the target of 50,000 words, you have to write 1,667 each day). It’s been easy so far, but it’s like the first mile in a marathon.  Looking forward to tomorrow’s writing.

10/7/2010 will be participating in NaNoWriMo this year for my first time; working title of the novel is Two Journals (yes, lame, that’s why it’s a working title!)

6/2/2009 11,490 words written of Four Friends

5/31/2009 11,200 words written of Four Friends; changed up the size of the chapters and am now writing the 10th chapter…that’s one way to do it (never mind the fact that over half of the chapters I’ve written need some major fleshing out)

5/30/2009 10,524 words written of Four Friends; I really wish I hadn’t taken such a long break from this as it’s hard to get it started back up

5/26/2009 started an inspirations journal…nothing like a blank notebook with lots of promise; 10,173 words written of Four Friends

5/25/2009 9,559 words written of Four Friends, including some editing

5/22/2009 You’re probably thinking, “She sure doesn’t update this page!” and you’d be right.  However, it’s not because I’m not keeping you updated, just that I haven’t been writing.  Here’s hoping to getting started again…tomorrow.

1/30/2009 9142 words written of Four Friends

1/28/2009 8018 words written of Four Friends; I’m most likely not going to reach my goal for the month, but that’s okay.  Just getting started.

1/25/2009 7575 words written of Four Friends; did a little editing

1/17/2009 7179 words written of Four Friends

1/11/2009 6816 words written of Four Friends; don’t feel as good about what I wrote today as I have about other parts.

1/10/2009 6201 words written of Four Friends; wondering if it was a bad idea to write when I’m sick; I might look back on these pages and laugh; finish 2nd chapter

1/4/2009   5204 words written of Four Friends

1/1/2009   3880 words written of Four Friends; laughed that I wrote exactly 1000 words today

12/21/2008   2880 words written of Four Friends; draft of first chapter completed

12/19/2008   1571 words written of Four Friends

12/17/2008   173 words written of Four Friends

*Working title
